  • Patent number: 7819060
Abstract: The invention provides a method and apparatus for mounting two or more cylindrically-shaped printing forms onto a cylindrically-shaped base. The base can be a print cylinder or an adapter mounted onto a print cylinder. The method and apparatus provide for positioning the two or more printing forms in register on the base. The two or more printing forms are axially oriented on the base using pressurized air as an air cushion between the base and the printing forms, positioned in a registration position, and engaged by a holding member to maintain the two or more printing forms in their respective registration position.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 13, 2007
Date of Patent: October 26, 2010
Assignee: E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: Bradley K. Taylor, Stephan Riechert, Thies Knudsen

  • Publication number: 20050277062
Abstract: A method of making a photopolymer sleeve blank for use in flexographic printing is provided which includes providing a base sleeve, applying a cushion layer over the base sleeve which is substantially transparent to curing radiation, applying an optional barrier layer over the cushion layer, and applying a photopolymer layer over the barrier or cushion layer. The inner surface of the base sleeve is then exposed to curing radiation such that the radiation penetrates the sleeve and cushion layer to substantially cure a portion of the thickness of the photopolymer layer.
