    Abstract: Upon reception of a message which is relevant to synchronization, the circuitry in a device forms a piece of reception-time information and this information is inserted into or appended to the received message and forwarded such that the reception-time information can be received by at least one synchronization application in the device. When a message is transmitted, the circuitry in the device forms a piece of transmission-time information, and this information is sent to at least one synchronization application initializing the message in the device. A fundamental advantage can be seen in that the economic outlay, particularly the outlay in terms of circuitry, for implementing the synchronization of the clocks and the determination of the communication-network or transmission-medium delay times, particularly on the basis of the IEEE standard 1588, m is substantially reduced.

    Abstract: A synchronization module for providing synchronization messages to be sent with a time stamp in accordance with the PTP protocol of standard IEEE 1588 is provided. The synchronization module comprises a program module for generating a synchronization message to be sent and for providing the synchronization message with a first time stamp, and a hardware-implemented time stamp module which receives synchronization messages from the program module and forwards them in accordance with the PTP protocol. The time stamp module comprises a real time clock, a message detector for recognizing a synchronization message by its difference in relation to other messages and a message manipulator for overwriting the first time stamp in a synchronization message recognized by the message detector with a second time stamp actually retrieved from the real time clock.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for processing digitally stored sound sequences, such as holding music MOH (Music on Hold), voice sequences or signal tones, in a telecommunications system equipped with a CPU, a working memory for the CPU, and with a switching network. A program code and/or data of telecommunications subscribers is/are preferably stored in the working memory. The telecommunications system establishes connections to terminals via the switching network and outputs sound sequences via the switching network to at least one telecommunications terminal. The invention also relates to a telecommunications system that is equipped with means for carrying out said method. Both the novel method as well as the telecommunications system are characterized in that at least one portion of the working memory, which is assigned to the CPU, is used for storing the digitally stored sound sequences.
