  • Publication number: 20170367482
Abstract: The invention relates to an edge strip (1) for fixing to a workpiece, in particular for the narrow surface coating of furniture boards, worktops, or similar material boards (2), having a base layer (3) of a thermoplastic, the upper side (3a) of which is structured, and a covering layer (4) of a transparent or translucent thermoplastic which is arranged on the base layer (3), wherein the upper side (4a) of the covering layer (4) completely or partly forms the visible face of the edge strip and the underside (4b) of said covering layer (4) completely or partly adjoins the profiled upper side (3a) of the base layer (3).

  • Publication number: 20170130099
Abstract: The invention relates to an edge strip for coating the narrow edge surface of a panel-type workpiece, in particular furniture panels, comprising at least one base coat and a melt layer for attaching the edge strip to the workpiece. The melt layer has a dielectric loss factor ?SS for microwave radiation that is greater than the dielectric loss factor ?GS of the base coat.

  • Patent number: 5739214
Abstract: The present invention relates to radiation-curable coating compositions comprising(A) from 20 to 50% by weight of at least one prepolymer containing at least two ethylenically unsaturated double bonds,(B) from 20 to 60% by weight of at least one cationically curing epoxy resin,(C) from 10 to 30% by weight of at least one ketonic and/or ketone-formaldehyde resin,(D) from 5 to 40% by weight of at least one reactive diluent, and(E) from 5 to 10% by weight of a mixture of at least one cationic polymerization initiator and at least one free-radical polymerization initiator, the sum of the proportions by weight of components A to E being in each case 100% by weight.

  • Patent number: 5654091
Abstract: A laminate comprising a substrate, a thermoplastic film, a paper layer, and a surface-finishing coating is described. The thermoplastic film is a coextruded, three-layer plastic film. The outer layers of the plastic film contain one or more polyolefins having a carboxyl group content of 0.05 to 30% by weight, and the inner layer of the plastic film contains polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyethylene copolymer, or a polypropylene copolymer. The laminates may be produced in one or more process steps and are useful for the manufacture of furniture and boards.

  • Patent number: 5460857
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing dull surfaces, in which initially a first paint layer is applied in a first layer thickness and at least one second paint layer is then applied on top of the first paint layer, at least the paint layer applied last being provided with dulling agents and having a dry film layer thickness which is less than the average particle size of the dulling agent. The method is characterized in that the paint layers applied are cured by ionizing radiation.

  • Patent number: 5461691
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a beam-curable coating composition for coating glass surfaces, particularly, optical glass fibers. The resultant coatings show slight or no loss of adhesion after exposure to moisture. The coating composition includes ethylenically unsaturated polyurethane, ethylenically unsaturated monomer, photoinitiator and a silane compound. The silane compound is an azidosilane and is added to improve adhesion of the coating agents exposed to moisture. Optionally, aminoalkoxysilanes may also be included.

  • Patent number: 5229433
Abstract: The present invention relates to a liquid, radiation-curable coating composition for the coating of glass surfaces which comprisesA) 56 to 89% by weight of at least one diethylenically unsaturated polyurethane optionally containing urea groups,B) 3 to 30% by weight of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer,C) 0.5 to 8% by weight of at least one photoinitiator andD) 0.05 to 6% by weight of an alkoxysilane, the sum total of the components A to D being 100% by weight in each case. The coating composition uses1.) one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers containing carboxyl groups, optionally together with other ethylenically unsaturated monomers as the component B and2.) an alkoxysilane containing epoxide groups as the component D.These coating compositions are employed for the coating of glass surfaces, in particular of optical glass fibers, and are distinguished by good adhesion even under humid conditions.
