  • Publication number: 20090191413
Abstract: A process for producing a wipe-proof anti-reflection layer on a borosilicate glass body is described, in which the borosilicate glass body is coated with a coating solution having a composition of 1-6% by weight of HCl, 0.5-7% by weight of SiO2 sol (solids content), 0.5-5% by weight of H2O, and 85-98% by weight of a readily volatile water-soluble organic solvent. The borosilicate glass body that is to be coated contains, in % by weight based on oxide content: 63-76 of SiO2, >11-20 of B2O3, 1-9 of Al2O3, 3-12 of alkali metal oxide(s), 0-10 of alkaline earth metal oxide(s), 0-2 of ZnO, 0-5 of TiO2, 0-1 of ZrO2, 0-1 of Nb2O5, and 0-1 of WO3.

  • Publication number: 20080057187
Abstract: In the method of making an adherent and wipe-resistant porous SiO2-containing antireflection coating on a borosilicate glass body a coating solution containing from 1.0 to 6.0 wt. % of HCl, from 0.5 to 7.0 wt. % of a SiO2 sol based on solids content, from 0.5 to 5.0 wt. % of water, and from 85 to 98 wt. % of at least one volatile water-soluble organic solvent, is used to form an antireflection coating on the glass body. A glass body, on which the foregoing coating can be provided with good adherence and wipe resistance properties, is made of borosilicate glass having a composition, in percent by weight based on oxide content, of SiO2, 70 to 75; B2O3, 8 to 11; Al2O3, 5 to 9; alkali metal oxides, 7 to 12; and alkaline earth metal oxides, 0 to 10.

  • Publication number: 20060260360
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a glass tube with a coated inner surface by drawing a glass melt (5) to a bag (8) of softened glass and hot forming to a glass tube (9). During the process a substance is introduced into the bag (8) of softened glass. According to the invention the substance is introduced as an aerosol and the inner surface is coated by means of the substance during the hot forming. The method permits economical internal coating with a continuous glass drawing method. The use of aggressive chemical substances for internal coating can be dispensed with according to the invention. As a result, for example, internally coated glass tubes with improved hydrolytic resistance can be manufactured. The invention also relates to a suitable apparatus for manufacturing internally coated glass tubes and the use of glass tubes manufactured by this means for further processing to a hollow, internally coated formed glass body, for example, as primary packaging in the pharmaceuticals field.

  • Patent number: 6902761
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the interior metal-coating of glass tubes, with the metal-coated surface being a cylindrical shell. In accordance with the invention such a method comprises the following process steps: the glass tube is sealed off at either end; the glass tube is brought to a horizontal position: a sensitizer solution is introduced into the interior space of the glass tube in such a quantity that the interior space is only partly filled; the sensitizer solution is removed from the interior space after a certain dwell period; a mirror-coating solution is introduced into the interior space of the glass tube, with the entire interior surface of the glass tube being wetted by the mirror-coating solution; the used-up mirror-coating solution is removed from the interior space of the glass tube.
