  • Publication number: 20060026960
Abstract: A device and a method for closed-loop control of at least a first exhaust gas turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. In this regard, a first closed-loop control system is provided for automatically controlling the charge air pressure, and a second closed-loop control system is provided for automatically controlling the turbine speed. The second closed-loop control system is subordinate to the first closed-loop control system. The correcting variable (SG1) of the first closed-loop control system corresponds to the reference input of the second closed-loop control system.

  • Patent number: 6941930
Abstract: In a method for controlling a multicylinder internal combustion engine, where a cylinder-equalization control is performed to adjust cylinder-specific torque contributions to the overall torque of the internal combustion engine, a functioning monitoring is performed for the cylinder-equalization control, and, in response to disturbances in the area of the cylinder-equalization control, at least one error signal may be generated to indicate the existence of a disturbance.

  • Patent number: 6892691
Abstract: The operation of an internal combustion engine under unfavorable operating conditions can lead to the formation of deposits in the combustion chamber (4). A method and an arrangement for operating an internal combustion engine (1), especially of a motor vehicle, is suggested, wherein fuel is conducted into a combustion chamber (4) and is there combusted. When deposits are detected in the combustion chamber (4), measures are initiated in a targeted manner for cleansing the combustion chamber (4). A knocking combustion is especially introduced and/or a cleansing liquid is added to the inducted combustion air.

  • Patent number: 6619260
Abstract: The method serves for input signal correction of a misfire detection function and for cylinder equalization in an internal combustion engine, especially of a motor vehicle. Here, it is provided that a control for the input signal correction (10) and a control of the cylinder equalization (11) are activated alternatively by an alternative circuit unit (12).

  • Patent number: 6543654
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for emptying containers (2) filled with liquids, especially canisters and barrels, with an adapter (5)that can be fixed in a bung hole (3) of the container (2). The adapter (5) is fitted with a suction lance (7) pointing towards the container and has a degassing device. The device has a coupling piece (6) that can be attached to the adapter (5) for connecting a suction device (9). The adapter (5) has a set breaking point (10) surrounding the connection of the suction lance (7) by means of which the suction lance (7) can be pushed into the interior of the container. In a special embodiment, the set breaking point (10) is configured as a series of holes surrounding the central part (5b) connected to the suction lance (7).

  • Publication number: 20020157642
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for correcting the input signal of a function by means of which misfire is detected and for synchronizing the cylinders in an internal combustion engine, especially of a vehicle. According to the invention, a control device for correcting the input signal (10) and a control device for synchronizing the cylinders (11) are alternately activated by means of an alternative switching unit (12).

  • Patent number: 6439198
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for combustion misfire detection in multi-cylinder internal combustion engines. In the method, rough-running values for each cylinder of the engine are determined individually for each crankshaft rotation by measuring the segment times. The segment times include the times corresponding to the piston movement of each cylinder to be measured during which times the crankshaft passes through a corresponding circular segment angular region and, on the basis of filtered rough-running values, equalization or corrective factors are computed for each cylinder in an evaluation unit for influencing injection times or injection time points of each individual cylinder. The determined rough-running values (LUT) or the filtered rough-running values (FLUT) are compared in a desired value comparison to a threshold value (SW2) which is pregiven in value significantly less than the threshold value (SW1) for misfire detection.

  • Patent number: 6237807
Abstract: The invention relates to a dosing apparatus with a container having a charging hole for a refill bag with a liquid in the top part, and an outlet in the bottom part. An opening device for the refill bag is fitted above the outlet. A connector leads from the outlet to a downstream pump. A chamber with a level sensor is arranged underneath the reservoir. The reservoir and the chamber are configured so as to be liquid tight, for supplying the liquid without a refill bag. A dosing pump is integrated within the dosing apparatus. A dosing conduit leads from the pump to a point of usage outside the dosing apparatus, and a return conduit leads to the integrated container.

  • Patent number: 5890474
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method and arrangement for checking the operability of a vessel. Pressure is introduced into the vessel utilizing a pressure source having operating variables which vary during operation of the pressure source. These operating variables are detected while the pressure is introduced into the vessel and a conclusion as to a presence of a leak in the vessel is drawn from the operating variables. By utilizing the operating variables, a statement as precise as possible is provided as to the presence of the leak with as little additional equipment as possible.
