  • Publication number: 20250257674
Abstract: An internal combustion engine with a crankcase ventilation system is provided, which, comprises a crankcase, an air intake line. The air intake line comprises a throttle valve and an air filter, and a crankcase ventilation line for venting the crankcase and a crankcase aeration line for flushing the crankcase. The crankcase ventilation line is arranged at a first junction downstream of the air filter at the air intake line. The crankcase aeration line, a sensor unit is arranged downstream of a first flow control device and upstream of a first backflow prevention device. The first junction is arranged downstream at a distance from a crankcase aeration line connection at the air intake line so that a malfunction of the crankcase ventilation system can be detected by the sensor unit.

  • Patent number: 12366187
Abstract: A method for diagnosing a crankcase system of an internal combustion engine. A pressure value is captured in a crankcase system. A pressure value of a reference pressure is ascertained or a pressure value to be expected in the crankcase system is modeled. A gradient of the pressure value in the crankcase system and a gradient of the reference pressure or the modeled pressure in the crankcase system is formed. The two formed gradients are integrated over time. The function of the crankcase system is evaluated based on the values obtained by the integrations. A control device as well as an internal combustion engine for carrying out the method are provided.

  • Publication number: 20240384672
Abstract: A method for diagnosing a crankcase system, comprising a determination of a signal waveform of an intake pressure in an intake area of a crankcase, a determination of a signal waveform of a second pressure in an area of the crankcase downstream of the intake area, a calculation of a similarity between the signal waveform of the intake pressure and the signal waveform of the second pressure, and a comparison of similarity with a similarity setpoint range. A deviation of similarity from the similarity setpoint range indicates an improper condition of the crankcase system. Furthermore, a crankcase system, a vehicle and a computer program product are provided.

  • Patent number: 11542894
Abstract: A method for testing the function of a fuel tank system of an internal combustion engine, the fuel tank system, whereby a gas transport device is operated and a shutoff valve is actuated by means of PWM, whereby the shutoff valve is opened and closed multiple times according to a PWM signal for implementing a defined opening state, a pressure oscillation of the purge gas, which results due to the corresponding opening and closing movements of the shutoff valve, being ascertained and evaluated with the aid of the pressure sensor according to a frequency diagnosis, and a distinction being made between an operability and a malfunction, based on the result of the evaluation.
