The axial balancing system further includes a device for substantially increasing the hydrostatic pressure of the fluid circulating in the high-pressure flow space during operation of the pump.

The invention is characterised by the fact that the axial balancing system (32) further comprises means (52) for substantially increasing the hydrostatic pressure of the fluid circulating in the high-pressure flow space (34) during operation of the pump (10).
