  • Patent number: 10316399
Abstract: The invention relates to equipment for cooling a metal strip (2) having a liquid coating to be solidified, wherein said strip is continuously moving. Said equipment is characterized in that each half-cooler (11, 12) is divided, over the length thereof, into at least two sections, a first section (13) and a second section (14), in the direction of the movement of the strip (2). The first section (13) is separated from the second section (14) in each half-cooler (11, 12) by a respective internal adjustment device (7, 8), making it possible to change the gas flow/pressure parameter so that the value of said gas flow/pressure parameter is different in the first section (13) from the value of said parameter in the second section (14).

  • Patent number: 9441649
Abstract: A device for blowing gas on a face of traveling strip material has at least one hollow box having its wall fitted with a plurality of blow orifices enabling gas to be directed towards the face of the strip material. The hollow box is also fitted laterally on at least one side thereof relative to a midplane (Q) perpendicular to the plane in the strip with a movable shutter member having the function of selectively shutting some of the blow orifices in order to adapt the width of the blow zone to the width of the corresponding strip material. The movable shutter member has an edge adjacent to the inside surface of the wall fitted with the blow orifices, and an edge adjacent to a side wall of the hollow box.

  • Patent number: 8771588
Abstract: A device for blowing gas on a face of traveling strip material, comprising at least one hollow box having its wall fitted with a plurality of blow orifices, thereby enabling gas to be directed towards said face of the strip material. The hollow box is also fitted laterally on at least one side thereof relative to a midplane (Q) perpendicular to the plane in the strip with a movable shutter member having the function of selectively shutting some of the blow orifices. In order to adapt the width of the blow zone to the width of the corresponding strip material, said movable shutter member has an edge adjacent to the inside surface of the wall fitted with the blow orifices, and an edge adjacent to a side wall of the hollow box.

  • Patent number: 8490416
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of cooling a metal strip traveling through a cooling section in a continuous heat treatment line. In accordance with the invention, the method consists in projecting a refrigerant medium into the cooling section (4) onto the surface of the strip (1) to be cooled, the medium being constituted for the most part by a phase-change substance that passes into the gaseous phase at a temperature that is lower than the temperature of the strip (1) and without oxidizing said strip so that energy is exchanged within an endothermic process by a change in the phase of said phase-change substance.

  • Publication number: 20100269367
Abstract: A gas blower device for blowing gas onto a face of a traveling strip of material. The device has at least one hollow box fitted with a plurality of tubular nozzles pointing towards the face in question of the strip of material. On the side facing towards the face in question of the strip of material, the hollow box presents a surface of profile (P) that varies in at least one given direction (D) symmetrically about a midplane (Q) perpendicular to the plane of the strip. The tubular nozzles are fastened via their roots to the varying-profile surface in such a manner that their respective axes are essentially orthogonal to said varying profile at the point in question, said tubular nozzles having respective lengths that are selected so that the outlet orifices lie in a common plane substantially parallel to the plane of the strip.
