Patent number: 11917501Abstract: An example system includes a transceiver. The transceiver communicates multicast frames to a plurality of client devices in a multicast group. The system further includes a controller. The controller determines that a predetermined time has passed since the transceiver most recently sent a unicast transmission to one of the plurality of client devices. The controller instructs the transceiver to transmit a unicast frame to the one of the plurality of client devices. The controller computes a data rate for the one of the plurality of client devices based on the transmission of the unicast frame to the one of the plurality of client devices.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2021Date of Patent: February 27, 2024Assignee: Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development LPInventors: Jeongkeun Lee, Souvik Sen, Stephane Laroche

Patent number: 11627049Abstract: A method of authenticating a device management system of a cloud-managed network includes transmitting a first transmission signal, from an access point, to a secondary port of the device management system. The first transmission signal comprises a first request of the access point to connect to the cloud-managed network. When the access point is incompatible with the cloud-managed network, the access point receives a re-direction instruction from the device management system to redirect the access point to a predefined Internet address to provide compatibility data for the access point. The method further includes that in response to receiving the compatibility data, transmitting a second transmission signal to the secondary port that includes a second request to connect to the cloud-managed network. The method include that in response to authentication by the access point, receiving an instruction from the secondary port to connect via a primary port to the cloud-managed network.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2019Date of Patent: April 11, 2023Assignee: Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development LPInventors: Mathieu Mercier, Robert Gagnon, Stephane Laroche, Jon Green

Patent number: 11381971Abstract: A method of authorizing an access point includes receiving a first transmission signal from a first access point. The first transmission signal comprises identifying information of the first access point that includes a first token. The method includes receiving a second transmission signal from a client device. The second transmission signal includes a second token that is received by the client device from an un-provisioned access point. When a match is determined between the first token and the second token, the first access point is identified as the un-provisioned access point. The method includes transmitting the identifying information of the first access point and a request to the client device to authorize the un-provisioned access point. The method includes receiving a third transmission signal from the client device that includes an authorization verification of the un-provisioned access point that authorities the un-provisioned access point to connect to a cloud-managed network.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2019Date of Patent: July 5, 2022Assignee: Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development LPInventors: Mathieu Mercier, Robert Gagnon, Guy Letourneau, Stephane Laroche, Ho-Kuo Chan

Patent number: 8885539Abstract: A wireless network access device includes a radio and support for virtual access points. According to the invention, each virtual access point has an independently configurable quality-of-service profile. The per-VAP QoS support enables multiple services to be delivered from a single physical access point. A plurality of transmit/receive queues are associated with each virtual access point (VAP) configured on the access device. Each queue in the plurality of queues is associated with a given quality-of-service level, such as (in decreasing order of priority): voice, video, best effort data, and background data. The access device further includes a data transfer mechanism in the form of a data packet forwarding engine that, for each VAP, transfers data from the plurality of queues to enforce the per-VAP QoS policy.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2005Date of Patent: November 11, 2014Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Pierre Trudeau, Stephane Laroche

Patent number: 8655278Abstract: A method for band steering includes, with a wireless access point, refraining from responding to a probe request from a client device on a first frequency band until a first period of time has elapsed if said client device is capable of communication on a second frequency band. The method further includes, with the wireless access point, responding immediately to a probe request from said client device on said second frequency band.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2011Date of Patent: February 18, 2014Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Stephane Laroche, Chi Thanh Hoang, Gilbert Moineau
