Patent number: 9074516Abstract: A system for cooling internal combustion engine pistons comprising an oil pump driven by the engine, jets projecting oil on the pistons, and a control device (2) interposed between the oil pump and the jets, where the control device comprises a valve (14) positioned between an oil inlet pipe (8) connected to the pressurised oil pump and a jet supply pipe (10), where said valve allows the oil to flow out from the pump to the jets when the oil pressure is at least equal to a threshold pressure, and where the device also comprises a solenoid valve (22) capable of causing the valve (14) to close by permitting the pressurised oil to be brought into contact with the closure member (16), in a direction of closure of the valve (14).Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2012Date of Patent: July 7, 2015Assignee: BONTAZ CENTRE R&DInventors: Stephane Perotto, Christophe Laguetre, Marlene Mangin

Patent number: 7883621Abstract: According to the invention, the filter is fixed to the engine block by screwing it to an attached connecting sleeve. The connecting sleeve contains a bypass valve, in the form of a tubular piston sliding in a through-passage and pushed against an intermediate shoulder by a spring. By sliding, the piston opens or closes a radial passage establishing direct communication between the inlet passage and the through-passage of the device. If the filter element of the filter is clogged, the pressure rise in the inlet passage causes the piston to move and the radial passage to open to reduce the pressure rise and ensure a satisfactory flow of oil. This reduces pressure rises upstream of the filter and ensures sufficient lubrication of the engine even in the case of clogging of the filter.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2007Date of Patent: February 8, 2011Assignee: Bontaz CentreInventors: Christophe Bontaz, Michael Bonvalot, Stephane Perotto

Patent number: 7559296Abstract: The internal combustion engine piston cooling sprayer comprises a sprayer body (1) with an axial through-passage (12) in which is fixed a tubular guide liner (4). The tubular guide liner (4) is fixed in the sprayer body (1) by its downstream section (4c), while its upstream section (4b) remains away from the wall of the axial through-passage (12), to allow the cooling fluid to flow. A valve (2) slides in an axial through-passage of the tubular guide liner (4), and is urged by a return spring (3) toward a main seat formed in the mass of the sprayer body (1). This produces a compact and reliable sprayer of relatively low cost.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2008Date of Patent: July 14, 2009Assignee: Bontaz CentreInventor: Stéphane Perotto
