  • Patent number: 8575801
Abstract: The invention describes a starter wherein the second front bearing is inserted axially between the armature windings and the speed reducer. This configuration helps solve the problem that the operating forces of known starter armature shafts are too great for the armature shaft guide ring to withstand long term intensive stresses. The structure includes a supporting section of the armature shaft received in the front bearing, the supporting section being of an outside diameter greater than or equal to the other sections of the armature shaft; the front bearing forms a sealed baffle between the armature windings and the planetary gear speed reducer; the electric motor is housed in a cylindrical frame, coaxial with the armature shaft, the front bearing being centered directly with respect to the frame by radial support against the internal cylindrical face of the front peripheral edge of the frame.

  • Patent number: 8446238
Abstract: A contactor including a plunger core (100), a pull-in winding (La), a holding winding (Lm), a moving contact plate (CM) and three contacts (PC+, PC1, PC2). The contactor has three operating states: a first state with no electrical contact between the contacts, a second state with electrical contact between first and second contacts and a third state with electrical contact between the first, second and third contact. The contactor also includes an electrically controllable micro-actuator (MS) to allow or prohibit, depending on the electric current which is applied thereto, commutation between the second and third operating states, the commutation being prohibited by the micro-actuator due to a force counteracting a thrust of the moving contact plate when the micro-actuator is electrically excited. Preferably, the micro-actuator is a micro-solenoid.

  • Patent number: 8416551
Abstract: A starter including a double contact electromagnetic contactor (10) having an electrically controllable micro-actuator of the micro-solenoid type and an associated electronic control device (ECC). The electronic control device includes a first transistor commutation (T1, T2, CZ2, RC1, RC3, SL) to control the excitation of a pull-in winding (La) of the contactor and a second transistor commutation (T3, CZ2, RC2) to control the excitation of the micro-actuator. The second transistor commutation controls the excitation of the micro-actuator (MS) for a predetermined duration after activation of the electronic control device.

  • Patent number: 8258639
Abstract: A starting device for an internal combustion engine, especially that of a motor vehicle, comprises: a stator, or inductor, comprising an inductor coil (5), said inductor coil comprising at least first (43), second (41) and third (42) windings that are all electrically connected in parallel; a rotor associated with said stator and having a longitudinal axis; a starter element that can be rotated by the rotor; and a contractor designed to supply power, in a prerotation first phase, only to the first winding (43) of the inductor coil and, in a full-speed second phase, following the first phase, to the first, second and third windings (41, 42) of the inductor coil.
