Patent number: 11737929Abstract: An endurance athlete's tampon that eliminates a traditional string and is simpler to manufacture includes a sheet of absorbent material with a bottom edge at whose midpoint there is a downward extending tab, and wherein this tampon is formed by folding it about its lateral centerline that extends upward from the tab so that the sheet's proximal and distal edges are placed proximate one another. This folded sheet is then rolled such that its lateral centerline and tab are at the center of the rolled sheet and its proximal and distal edges are on the outer surface of the rolled sheet. This tab is configured to enable it to be used to remove the tampon after it has been placed in service.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2020Date of Patent: August 29, 2023Inventor: Stephanie Barnes

Publication number: 20220047002Abstract: An upper torso and arms enclosing garment, that is adapted to, when not in use, be rolled-up and temporarily anchored into a quasi-belt configuration and tied around a wearer's waist, includes a torso portion with a loop in its front segment that is configured to allow the loop to be extended away from the torso portion to enclose a loop region which has a cross-sectional area that is adapted to allow the distal end of the garment's sleeve, when in its rolled-up configuration, to pass through this loop region and temporarily anchor it to the torso portion before the distal end is extended away from the torso portion to enable it to be used to tie the garment around a wearer's waist.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2020Publication date: February 17, 2022Inventor: Stephanie Barnes

Patent number: 9025226Abstract: A holographic structure, system and method project a grey-scale image in a narrow IR spectral band that is related to a broadband thermal signature of an object. The projected grey-scale image, when integrated over the broadband, forms either a decoy that approximates the thermal signature of the object or a mask that obscures the thermal signature of the object. The projected image is a tuned phase recording of a desired far field projection. In different embodiments, the projected image is a “positive” or a “negative” image of the object's thermal signature, a difference image between the thermal signatures of a false object and the object or a camouflage image of random features having approximately the same spatial frequency as the object's thermal signature. The goal being to confuse or fool, even for a short period of time, the warfighting or surveillance system or human observer that uses a broadband IR sensor to acquire and view thermal images of the scene.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2013Date of Patent: May 5, 2015Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Rigel Quinn Woida-O'Brien, Stephanie Barnes

Patent number: 8257310Abstract: A syringe for performing a medical procedure includes a pressure sensor, a volume sensor, and a compensation circuit. The volume sensor measures a volume of a flowable material that is dispensed from the syringe, the pressure sensor measures a pressure being applied to the flowable material, and the compensation circuit calculates a delivered volume of the flowable material by accounting for system compliance (expansion) as the pressure is increased. By compensating for system compliance in this manner, a syringe can be used in high pressure procedures while still providing accurately controllable material delivery.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2011Date of Patent: September 4, 2012Assignee: Kyphon SARLInventors: Brian W. Donovan, Andrea Y. Leung, Lisanne A. Eng, David P. Thompson, Robert B. Hubler, Stephanie A. Barnes, Thomas C. Arends, Keith Schubert, Paul C. Leonard, Paul F. Muller
