  • Patent number: 11799864
Abstract: A method is performed to regulate access to electronic content based on content usage telemetry data. A first computer receives, from a second computer system, a request for access to electronic content. The first computer system determines, based on an access profile associated with the second computer system, that the second computer system is authorized to access the electronic content. A first authorization message indicating that the second computer system is authorized to access the electronic content is transmitted from the first computer system to the second computer system. The first computer system receives, from the second computer system, content usage telemetry data including data items indicating metrics of use of the electronic content by the second computer system. The first computer system modifies the access profile of the second computer system based on the content usage telemetry data.

  • Patent number: 10679151
Abstract: A method and apparatus for unit-based licensing for third party access of digital content are provided. Unit-based licensing for third party access of digital content may include receiving a request for access to content, the request for access indicating the customer account and a third party, identifying a cardinality of assigned units for the content, identifying a cardinality of available licensing units allocated to the customer account, determining, by a processor, whether the cardinality of the assigned units is within the cardinality of available licensing units, outputting a response indicating that the request is granted on a condition that the cardinality of the assigned units is within the cardinality of available licensing units, and outputting a response indicating that the request is denied on a condition that the cardinality of the assigned units exceeds the cardinality of available licensing units.

  • Publication number: 20180314961
Abstract: In an example method, a request message including a request for a multiuser content recommendation is received at a network device from a first user device over a communications network. The network device identifies at least a first user account and a second user account based on the request message. The first user account is associated with the first user device and the second user account is associated with a second user device. The network device identifies respective user information associated with the first and second user accounts. The network device identifies content for recommendation with respect to the first and second user accounts based on the respective user information. The network device transmits, over the communications network, a respective content message to the first user device and second user device. Each content message includes the identified content and instructions to display the content on the respective first user device or second user device.

  • Publication number: 20180270239
Abstract: Socially responsible content access may include receiving, by a server device from a customer device, message data including a request to access content associated with customer account data indicating a customer account. In response to receiving the request to access content, socially responsible content access may include identifying, by the server device, socially responsible content access creator information, wherein the socially responsible content access creator information includes an indication of a content creator associated with the content, accounting, by the server device, for socially responsible content access, and sending, by the server device to the customer device, a response to the request to access content.

  • Publication number: 20160292805
Abstract: Sharing content under unit-based licensing may include receiving a content request from a device associated with a receiving user, the content request indicating content and a customer account, the content request generated in response to the device associated with the receiving user receiving a content communication from a sending user, the content communication indicating the content, identifying a cardinality of assigned units for the content, identifying a cardinality of available units for the customer account, determining, by a processor, whether the cardinality of assigned units is within the cardinality of available units, outputting a response indicating that the content request is granted on a condition that the cardinality of assigned units is within the cardinality of available units, and outputting a response indicating that the content request is denied on a condition that the cardinality of assigned units exceeds the cardinality of available units.

  • Publication number: 20150310513
Abstract: Offline content access may include receiving, by a server, via an electronic communication link, an offline status message from a customer device associated with a customer account, the offline status message identifying the customer device as an offline device. Offline content access may include receiving, at the server, from the customer device, a request for content. Offline content access may include, on a condition that the customer device is an offline device and on a condition that an electronic communication link between the server and the customer device is available, processing the request as an online content access request, wherein processing the request includes generating a response to the request for content. Offline content access may include transmitting the response to the customer via an electronic communication link.
