The upper edge of the intermediate section includes an elastic strap to maintain the upper edge in position to form a one piece bathing suit. The top piece may further include a cover flap to conceal the edge of the intermediate section for a seamless appearance. The upper edge of the intermediate section can be rolled, folded or scrunched toward the bottom piece to effectively convert the one piece style bathing suit to a two piece style bathing suit.
