Patent number: 7334887Abstract: An ink container shell for an ink jet cartridge has spaced apart side walls, a front wall, a rear wall, and a bottom wall, a partition in said shell dividing the interior thereof into first and second chambers for respectively receiving an ink and an ink absorbing material, an opening through the partition for communicating ink in said first chamber with ink absorbing material in the second chamber, and which has a height greater than its width. The shell further includes an outlet port in the bottom wall of the second chamber provided with a wick retaining arrangement, and a block of ink absorbing material in the second chamber having an angled surface facing the opening through the partition and having an area greater than the area of the opening. A lever and tongue component for releasably interengaging the container with a holder therethrough has smooth surfaces and edges to facilitate handling of the container.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 2004Date of Patent: February 26, 2008Assignee: Nu-kote International, Inc.Inventors: Stephen A. Publication number: 20070243393Abstract: Sandwich composite constructions with superior thermal and acoustic insulation properties are provided. In addition, the sandwich composite constructions are lightweight and have a mechanical integrity that may allow them to withstand an impact force of five pounds per square inch or more. One aspect of the present invention relates to the composition of the sandwich constructions, while another relates to methods of fabricating the sandwich composite constructions. Materials incorporated into the constructions include fibrous material, aerogel, resin, separation material, and insulating material, such as a foam. A vacuum assisted resin transfer method (VARTM) may be used to manufacture the sandwich composites by infusing resin into a composite preform such that the resin is received into at least a portion of the fibrous material pores. Water soluble tooling materials may be used as the substrate for the preform to fabricate sandwich composite panels having either simple or complex geometries.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 25, 2006Publication date: October 18, 2007Applicant: ADVANCED CERAMICS RESEARCH, INC.Inventors: K. Vaidyanathan, Jeffrey Campbell, Arthur Studley, Christina Bisch, John Gillespie, Stephen Andersen, Ahmad Obaid

Patent number: 7137688Abstract: An ink container shell for an ink jet cartridge has an ink chamber provided with an optical ink detection device in the form of a single or multi-segment prism having interface surfaces for reflecting light in a scan plane from a first to a second exterior area relative to the container shell when an ink level in the chamber recedes to a given level. The multi-segment prism provides for scanning a cartridge in different scanning planes. Either a single prism or the multi-segment prism can be separate from the cartridge and interengaged therewith by a snap-fit.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2004Date of Patent: November 21, 2006Assignee: Nu-Kote International, Inc.Inventors: Stephen A. Publication number: 20060157036Abstract: A positive displacement supercharger apparatus and its method of formation are provided for use in an inline cylinder engine. The positive displacement supercharger is structurally supported by a non-OEM intake manifold. The non-OEM intake manifold provides efficient structural support, direct and efficient air flow path, and implementation flexibility. The non-OEM intake manifold further comprises an optional air charge cooling device, plenum volume and inlet runners that are integrally connected to form the non-OEM intake manifold. The disclosed positive displacement supercharger apparatus is configured to receive air flow from the rear of the device through appropriate ducting on the intake side of the inline engine.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 14, 2006Publication date: July 20, 2006Inventor: Stephen Andersen

Patent number: 7066587Abstract: An ink container shell for an ink jet cartridge has spaced apart side walls, a front wall, a rear wall, and a bottom wall, and is provided with a partition structure which divides the interior thereof into three ink chambers, at least one of which has a non-rectangular profile in cross-section transverse to said side, front and rear walls. The partition structures enable varying the volumes of the ink chambers with respect to a given shell exterior profile and enable isolating two the chambers from one another by interposing the third chamber therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 2004Date of Patent: June 27, 2006Assignee: Nu-Kote International, Inc.Inventors: Stephen A. Patent number: 7021977Abstract: A method and apparatus for the precise manufacture of high quality, four-sided electrical contacts by means of a closely controlled material skiving process. The apparatus is designed so that the starting material from which the four-sided electrical contacts are made is closely constrained in the area of the shear boundaries so that predictable and precisely controlled shearing of the material can repeatedly be achieved to initially form four precursor sides, two of which are arcuate. The apparatus also includes sequentially operating forming mechanisms for precisely forming the precursor sides of the precursor contact into a final end product configuration.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2004Date of Patent: April 4, 2006Inventor: Stephen Andersen

Publication number: 20050047897Abstract: A portable cart/trailer containing a bin by which a landscaping supply company can deliver landscaping materials. The cart/trailer and bin being left at the job site until it is emptied and returned to the provider of the landscaping materials. The trailer includes a bin elevated off the ground so that a wheelbarrow can simply be placed under the hopper. A gate door is opened and material is able to directly flow into the wheelbarrow, thus saving the labor required to shovel the material from the ground into the wheelbarrow.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 2, 2003Publication date: March 3, 2005Inventor: Stephen Andersen
