  • Patent number: 10052570
Abstract: A settling basin insert for controlling fluid flow into a settling basin has a first and second side wall in opposition, and a top surface extending between the first and second side walls, defining a sump extending from head to end. Fluid apertures extend through the top surface to permit fluid to communicate with the sump and an access aperture in the top surface permits a vacuum hose to pass into the sump. The first side wall is taller than the second side wall, and the first and second side walls each define a guide wall extending above the top surface. The second side wall is configured to be adjacent the settling basin. The first and second side walls direct inflowing fluid along the settling basin insert and through the fluid apertures in the top surface, decelerating the fluid for settling of sediment in the settling basin insert.

  • Patent number: 5065568
Abstract: A mower deck height adjustment mechanism having a frame coupled to a rear base unit having driven wheels. Ground engaging wheels support the frame, and a deck is coupled to the frame. A crank handle is coupled to a transverse bar that is fixed to a lower parallel member. The operator turns the crank handle to pivot the bar and lower parallel member to thereby raise and lower the front of the deck. A bell crank couples the rear of the deck to the crank handle. The bell crank is carried by and shifts vertically with a connecting member supported by the front of the deck. As the front of the deck shifts vertically, the connecting member, bell crank, and rear portion of the deck also shift vertically. The bell crank is also operatively coupled with the bar for pivoting therewith, which also causes the rear portion of the deck to shift vertically.

  • Patent number: 5025618
Abstract: A fuel tank usable with lawn mowers, snowblowers and similar small powered equipment is provided. The polyethylene tank is rotationally molded and includes several stepped ledges inside which serve to indicate the proportional volume of fuel remaining in the tank. A wide mouthed fuel inlet is provided to permit visual observation of the fuel level inside the opaque tank in relation to the stepped ledges.

  • Patent number: 5020308
Abstract: A mower control linkage having a double ended dead man control lever, left and right steering control levers, and a linkage interconnecting said levers with left and right transmission mechanisms. The linkage has swingable left and right are members that adjust the transmission mechanisms between braked, clutch disengaged and driven modes. The arm members arm connected to the dead man control lever via a lost motion coupling and are each linked with respective steering control levers. As the dead man control lever is depressed, both arm members are placed in a driven mode, and either steering control lever can then be depressed to shift the respective arm member to its braked mode to execute a turn about that wheel.

  • Patent number: 4984417
Abstract: The present invention relates to an edger with a belt braking device, including a belt driving device and a cutter blade, which are arranged at the side of an edger vehicle. A bearing housing portion of the cutter blade is provided for forward and rearward movement, a belt cover for covering the whole driving belt is fixed to the edger vehicle, and a belt braking device is arranged between the front end of the belt cover and the front driven pulley, whereby performing ON-OFF operation of a clutch and engagement/ disengagement of a brake simultaneously is enabled. In this way, the fixed belt cover can be compact and the operation for changing of working conditions can be simplified.

  • Patent number: 4962631
Abstract: The present invention provides an edger wherein a cutter device is arranged on one side of an edger frame, the position of a front wheel is adjustable, the position of one of the rear wheels situated on the other side of the edger frame is also adjustable, and a mechanism for changing the position of the front wheel as well as changing the position of the rear wheel is performed by a single control lever at the operator's station. With this arrangement, the adjustment of the depth of the cutter and the adjustment for maintaining the edger in a horizontal condition when the edger is driven on a curbstone can be easily effected by the operator.

  • Patent number: 4186819
Abstract: A hollow, generally conical member is provided in a cylindrical portion of a muffler shell and has a surface cooperating with the shell to compress oncoming exhaust gases, the surface being of a special curved configuration calculated for reflecting impinging gas flow in a non-linear pattern which results in the development of pressure waves that arrive at an open exhaust port of the engine at the proper time for providing efficient scavenging and/or supercharging. The generally conical member also serves as an expansion chamber and, in one embodiment thereof, an elongate tube is provided for conveying gases axially thereinto while elongate perforations are provided in the rear end wall thereof for conveying gases therefrom. In a second embodiment thereof, a plurality of radial openings are provided for conveying gases thereinto while a tube extends axially through an end wall thereof for conveying gases therefrom.

  • Patent number: RE30306
Abstract: An air intake silencer includes a box-shaped expansion chamber constructed of identically dimensioned, separable halves respectively connected to a carburetor intake system and a tubular intake member. In a basic form of the silencer, the tubular intake member includes a metal tube mounted in the expansion chamber and having a single elongate opening in communication with the interior of the chamber, the tube being connected so as to form a continuation of a hose located exteriorly of the chamber. For obtaining more effective silencing, air distribution and filtering the basic form of the silencer may be altered by dividing the expansion chamber in half with a perforated baffle plate and/or by substituting a perforated metal tube for the aforedescribed metal tube.
