  • Patent number: 3972832
Abstract: This specification discloses, as a composition of matter, a phosphorus-containing zeolite and discloses a method for preparing it. The composition is a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite having a silica to alumina ratio of at least about 12, a constraint index of about 1 to 12, and containing phosphorus incorporated with the crystal structure thereof in an amount of at least about 0.78 percent by weight. The specification also discloses the use of the composition as a catalyst for the conversion of aliphatic compounds.

  • Patent number: 3959239
Abstract: A process for the hydrogenation of hydrocarbon materials having olefinic unsaturation and/or olefinic-aromatic unsaturation, and particularly wherein hydrogenation is carried out at relatively low catalyst levels and mild reaction conditions whereby olefinic bonds are reduced and, when components of the reaction mixture contain aromatic unsaturation, to effect selective hydrogenation of olefinic bonds, without substantial, if any, hydrogenation of aromatic unsaturation; said process comprising contacting such hydrocarbon materials under hydrogenation reaction conditions of temperature and pressure in the presence of bis(1,5-cyclooctadiene) nickel as the hydrogenation catalyst.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 5, 1975
Date of Patent: May 25, 1976
    Assignee: Mobil Oil Corporation
Inventors: Stephen A. Butter, James G. Murray
  • Patent number: 3944501
Abstract: A novel use for sorbents involving the selective removal of heavy metals from liquid streams has been discovered. More specifically it has been discovered that these sorbents selectively remove alkyl lead moieties from gasoline. The sorbents are comprised of metal halides (preferably tin tetrachloride or antimony pentachloride) bonded to a suitable substrate through at least one amine or alkyl halide functional group. The sorbents can be effectively regenerated.
