  • Patent number: 9168864
Abstract: A lighting assembly for a vehicle, and in particular, an interior lighting assembly having a reduced profile using solid state illuminators is provided along with a method of construction thereof. The assembly includes a housing; a lens attached to the housing; a printed circuit board disposed between the housing and the lens; at least one light source attached in operable electrical communication to the printed circuit board; and a light blade. The light blade has opposite sides disposed between the printed circuit board and the lens. One of the sides has a first configuration of optics and the other of the sides has a second configuration of optics, wherein the first and second configurations of optics are different from one another.

  • Patent number: 7220029
Abstract: A lighting assembly (10) is adjustable between flood and spot lighting conditions for selectively illuminating an interior passenger compartment in a motor vehicle. The assembly (10) includes a housing (16) which clamps to a supporting member, such as a headliner (12), via a sleeve (18) interacting with a rotary cam lock (22). An LED light source (26) is orbitally supported within the housing (16) for projecting light in a directionally adjustable manner. A lens (50) is disposed in the light path (28) and is moveable between an extended spot position for task lighting and a retracted flood position for general illumination within the interior compartment. A switch (74) is responsive to movement of the lens (50) into its spot position for automatically energizing the LED (30). The switch (74) opens, thus de-energizing the LED (30) when the lens (50) is returned to its flood condition.

  • Patent number: 7093964
Abstract: A compact lamp assembly provides illumination for a vehicle interior, and generally includes a housing, a circuit board, and an LED that emits light through an opening in the housing. The front wall of the housing includes first and second installation features for installing the lamp assembly in a slot in a vehicle interior panel. The first installation feature has a flange connected to the housing by a neck portion that encircles the opening in the housing and that is designed to slide into the slot so that the housing is held in place on the panel by the flange. The second installation feature includes a pair of apertured extensions of the front wall that receive fasteners to hold the lamp assembly in place against the rear side of the panel.

  • Publication number: 20060092649
Abstract: A compact lamp assembly for use in interior vehicle application such as reading and courtesy lighting. The lamp assembly includes a housing, a circuit board, and an LED. The housing has a front wall with a concave portion and annular bezel, as well as a side wall and several interior walls. The concave surface includes an off-center opening that is aligned along an axis that forms an oblique angle with respect to the central axis of the housing. The LED is mounted to the circuit board and is positioned in a protective interior space formed behind the opening in the concave surface. When assembled, the LED emits light through the opening such that it exits the lamp assembly at an angle, traveling along the axis of the opening rather than along the central axis of the housing.
