The method comprises providing a quantity of molten metal; providing a mold defining an airfoil portion having an axial direction and a transverse direction, wherein the airfoil portion of the mold comprises a single-crystal growth region and a columnar growth region disposed along the transverse direction from the single crystal growth region; introducing the molten metal into the mold; and solidifying the metal such that a solidification front progresses in the axial direction to produce an airfoil casting portion comprising a single-crystalline region and a columnar-grained region.

The method also includes transmitting control signals from the second location to the plurality of devices at the first location to adjust a transmission rate of medical data from the plurality of medical devices to the second location and limiting a rate of transmission of the control signals to the plurality of medical devices based on a probability that the transmission of the control signals causes the channel bandwidth to exceed the defined threshold value.

The system also includes a processor having an ultrasound registration unit (URU) with the URU configured to identify and reference a probe location of the ultrasound probe to a surface of the object from the scene information and correlate the probe location to one or more of the acquired ultrasound images. The URU is additionally configured to generate a representation of the surface showing the identified and referenced probe location corresponding to the correlated ultrasound images.

The scale free communication network comprises a plurality of distribution devices communicatively coupled to each other in a power network that include a protection device and a controller coupled to each of the plurality of distribution devices in the power network. The controller further restores the plurality of isolated distribution devices in the power network by automatically activating the tie-switch in the power network. The controller also computes reliability indicators for each of the restored distribution device in the power network. Furthermore, the controller identifies critical distribution devices in the power network based on the computed reliability indicators and establishes a scale free communications network within the power network based on the identified critical distribution devices.
