  • Patent number: 5768947
Abstract: An implement control system for use with an article of construction machinery includes an implement adapted for mounting to an article of construction equipment, the implement including first and second ranges of motion, a hand support adapted for mounting to the article of construction equipment in the vicinity of an operator, the hand support including a base, an end portion upstanding at a first angle from the base and a hand grip extending outwardly from the end portion, the hand grip defining a distal end thereof and an opening between the hand grip and the base adapted for permitting an operator's fingers to extend therebetween in order to grip the hand grip, a first control lever movably mounted to the distal end of the hand grip, the first control lever being operably connected to the implement for controlling the first range of motion and adapted for movement thereof by an operator's thumb, a second control lever movably mounted to the base, the second control level being operably connected to the im

  • Patent number: 5666861
Abstract: An armrest adjusting mechanism is disclosed which includes a base plate mountable to an article of construction machinery and a first working plate movable relative to the base plate. First and second shafts are mounted to the first working plate. The first shaft is guided by first and second spherical bearings fixedly mounted to the base plate. The second shaft is guided by a third spherical bearing adjustably mounted to the base plate. The third spherical bearing is attached to a third shaft which is disposed normal to the first and second shafts. A cylindrical bearing guides the third shaft as it moves in response to misalignment between the first and second shafts. In a similar manner, fourth and fifth shafts are mounted to the first working plate. The fourth shaft is guided by fourth and fifth spherical bearings fixedly mounted to a second working plate. The fifth shaft is guided by a sixth spherical bearing adjustably mounted to the second working plate.

  • Patent number: 5521354
Abstract: A method for sensing and controlling the weld quality of gas metal arc welding employs sampling of the welding current and voltage signals and making determinations of the weld quality state based on information embedded in those signals. The signals are processed such that the quality of the weld can be determined and the appropriate steps are taken to respond to the detected quality level. If the quality level is deemed unacceptable the process is terminated and the operator is alerted. The method includes determinations based on the standard deviation of the electrical signal, the summed power spectrum of the electrical signal, and/or the average absolute value of the time derivative of the electrical signal.
