  • Patent number: 10436993
Abstract: A fiber optic cable external shield connector grounds a fiber optic cable having both a corrugated conductive shield and a strength member without removal of the outer protective layer of the fiber optic cable. The connector has a grounding cover and a cooperative grounding base each with an electrically conductive grounding assembly having an array of prongs. Bosses of the cover and bosses of the base are fastened together to force the prongs of the conductive assembly to pierce the outer non-conductive sheath of the fiber optic cable. The prongs cooperatively pinch the strength member to ultimately connect the corrugated shield and strength member to an outside ground.

Date of Patent: October 8, 2019
    Assignee: Electric Motion Company, Inc.

  • Patent number: 9728354
Abstract: An isolating ground switch includes an enclosure with a frontal surface. A slide channel opens through the top of the enclosure. A conductive switch plate is received in the channel and is bi-directionally slidably positionable between the first position and the second position. A plurality of terminal studs project forwardly from the frontal surface of the enclosure and rearwardly conductively communicate with a conductive portion. When the switch plate is in the first position, the conductive portion engages the switch plate. When the switch plate is in the second position, the conductive portion is isolated from the switch plate.

  • Patent number: 9557509
Abstract: A fiber optic external shield connector for grounding a fiber optic cable. The external shield connector is irreversibly mounted to the fiber optic cable using traditional tools. Prongs on the inside of the shield connector puncture the outer non-conductive sheath of the fiber optic cable. The external shield connector is compatible with fiber optics cables having different diameters. The prongs are arranged to complement the geometry of the fiber optic cables for the specific application. The prongs contact an inner conductive sheath of the cable and connect the conductive sheath electrically to an outside ground. This engagement does not expose the internal portions of the fiber optic cable to outside elements such as moisture.
