  • Publication number: 20090032672
Abstract: A suspension system for a measuring instrument maintains contact with an object to be imaged or measured under circumstances that include a high degree of vibration by providing damping in only one direction. The system includes a rotating shaft with a friction damper that engages the outer surface of the shaft, but relative rotation with respect to the shaft occurs only for rotational motion in one direction.

  • Publication number: 20060219472
Abstract: The stethoscope holder is a clip that grips a belt or cincture of an article of clothing and holds a stethoscope. The holder has a first arm biased against a second arm by a spring, such as a flat or leaf spring formed in a V-shape. A hinge or pivot pin holds the two arms together in a pivoting manner. The first arm has a front surface and a rear surface with a finger grip extending from the front surface at an angle. A gripping surface is formed on the post, the front surface, and the rear surface of the first arm. The second arm may be J-shaped. The second arm has a front surface and a rear surface. A gripping surface is formed on the front surface of the rear arm. The gripping surfaces may be formed by ribs, ridges, or flutes.

  • Patent number: 6561618
Abstract: A thermal inkjet printer with firing nozzles perpendicular to the carriage motion has two motors: paper and carriage. These motors, alone or in concert, provide the power to the service station. The service station has separate wiping and pen cleaning functions. The wipers need to move across the pens in a direction that is perpendicular the carriage direction. Through the use of gears, the wipers can be made to clean the pens at the same time that the paper is being advanced and using the same motor source. For capping, the caps are moved into place as the pens come to rest. The motion of the pens themselves could easily push a lever that pushes the caps into place.

  • Patent number: 6067484
Abstract: A differential GPS landing system having at least three GPS receivers at known locations in spatial proximity to each other, wherein each GPS receiver independently receives GPS signals from the plurality of GPS satellites and at least three reference stations, wherein each reference station receives a signal from a different two of the at least three GPS receivers and calculates two separate differential corrections for each satellite, wherein each differential correction is independently calculated using the signals received from a different one of the two GPS receivers. The reference stations preferably average the two calculated differential corrections for each satellite to produce an averaged differential correction for each satellite.
