  • Patent number: 8353952
Abstract: A stent includes a wave form that includes a cable including a plurality of strands. The wave form has a plurality of struts and a plurality of crowns, with each crown connecting two adjacent struts. The wave form is wrapped around a longitudinal axis at a pitch to define a plurality of helical turns. The stent includes a filler located within the cable. The filler includes a therapeutic substance.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 7, 2010
Date of Patent: January 15, 2013
    Assignee: Medtronic Vascular, Inc.
Inventors: Dustin Thompson, Paul Adler, Maria Arreguin, Kevin Mauch, Christopher Storment, Lance Ensign, Stephen Zimmerman

  • Patent number: 5948345
Abstract: A method for making a medical balloon catheter in a single molding operation employs a parison which is molded and biaxially oriented by the use of first and second pressurization stages. The starting material is in the form of a tubular parison with a reduced diameter portion which is made of a biaxial orientable polyamide or polyetheramide material. The resulting balloon can be attached to a catheter that includes a tapered or stepped distal end without further shaping or modification of the balloon ends.

  • Patent number: 5589869
Abstract: A system and method for printing a predetermined image onto a substrate includes steps or structure for determining a first area on the substrate where a colorant is to be deposited; determining a second area which is immediately adjacent to the first area; depositing an image-enhancing precoat over the first area and the second area; and depositing a colorant on the exposed surface of the image-enhancing precoat substantially so as to be over the first area, whereby a border of precoat material will be defined about the printed image on the substrate. A second aspect of the disclosure involves sealing a printed image on a substrate by applying an aftercoat.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 31, 1995
Date of Patent: December 31, 1996
    Assignee: Tektronix, Inc.
Inventors: Thomas J. Brandt, Stephen A. Zimmerman

  • Patent number: 5440329
Abstract: A system and method for printing a predetermined image onto a substrate includes steps or structure for obtaining pixel data which renders a portion of the predetermined image and relates to whether a colorant is to be deposited in a predetermined area comprising at least one subject pixel and at least one adjacent pixel; determining whether a colorant is specified for any of the predetermined area; and depositing an image-enhancing coating over the subject pixel on the substrate if the above determining step determines that a colorant is so specified, whereby a portion of the image-enhancing coating receiving area is successively determined "on-the-fly" using a minimal physical memory space without sacrificing the system performance. A second aspect of the disclosure involves an efficient method and structure for converting a pixel data relating to the deposition of the image-enhancing coating material format into a compact data format which is acceptable by a printer.
