  • Patent number: 10568569
Abstract: A system and method for managing ventilation of a user, through the use of an oral appliance, is disclosed. The appliance is configured to fit between the user's teeth and lips or cheeks to inhibit ventilation by the user around the appliance, and includes a passageway. An airway resistor within the passageway includes an aperture that is sized to allow a metered amount of air flow by the ventilation of the user. A pressure sensor measures an air pressure in the aperture, which measurement is transmitted to an external computer processor to generate feedback data for the user.

  • Publication number: 20140249378
Abstract: The disclosures is directed to cough detectors, methods and kits. Cough detectors can include, for example, a housing adaptable to engage an abdomen or thorax of a mammal; a first sensor comprising an AGM sensor positioned within the housing; a processor in communication with the AGM sensor wherein the processor is capable of receiving a signal from the AGM sensor and analyzing the signal to determine whether the signal is characterizable as a cough; and a power source.

  • Publication number: 20140213925
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to devices, systems, kits and methods for measuring peak expiratory or inspiratory flow-rate and dynamically predicting respiratory episodes. Additionally, systems for analyzing and processing the measurement in a communication networked environment are also provided. An aspect of the disclosure is directed to a respiratory device, In some configurations the respiratory device comprises a housing adaptable and configurable to communicate with an electronic device, a mouth piece having a proximal end and a distal end configurable to engage a mouth of a patient and transmit an air flow, one or more diaphragm sensors configured to detect a breath vibration from the air flow in the mouth piece, and a processor adaptable and configurable to analyze the breath vibration detected by the one or more diaphragm sensors.

  • Publication number: 20140075015
Abstract: Methods and systems for managing a device are described. A device agent may receive device information associated with a device, such as information concerning operation of the device. The device agent may be configured to maintain a device model or operating protocol associated with the operation of the device, such as various operational parameters, operating characteristics and/or programs. The device agent may monitor the device based on the device information streamed, for example, in substantially real time from the device. A central management system may be in communication with the device agent and may operate to verify and/or update the device model based on the device information. The device information may be presented to client devices, for instance, through a graphical user interface. The client devices may also be able to transmit control signals to the central management system for controlling various aspects of the device.

  • Publication number: 20110298631
Abstract: An alert device is positioned on a bed, such as on the head region of the bed. The alert device is configured to detect or otherwise measure the angle of orientation of the head region such as relative to the horizontal plane. The alert device is configured to provide an alert when the angle orientation of the head region falls outside a predetermined value or range of values. The alert may be any audio, visual, or tactile means of notifying a user as to an alarm condition.
