Patent number: 11997777Abstract: An electrostatic discharge (ESD) robust design for an input device such as a stylus is disclosed. The input device can include one or more components, such as one or more Schottky diodes, that can be damaged by ESD events. To reduce the likelihood of damage to sensitive components, the parasitic capacitance between sensitive conductive paths and reference ground paths of the input device that could otherwise provide electrostatic discharge paths can be reduced (arranging current limiting resistance at specific locations among sensitive components, creating physical separation between sensitive conductive paths and reference ground paths), shielding can be added to shield the sensitive electronics from ESD pulses, and high dielectric breakdown material can be added to prevent ESD pulse entry or exit of not otherwise protected circuit parts.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2020Date of Patent: May 28, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Daniel Jacob Benjamin Bechstein, MohammadAli Khorrami, Vipin Ayanoor-Vitikkate, Blake R. Publication number: 20240130697Abstract: An eye mask apparatus for protecting a patient's eyes while being secured around the patient's head during panoramic dental radiography, the apparatus comprising an elongated lead vinyl sheet having a first end and a second end, wherein said first and second ends have attachment devices to releasably secure said two ends together. The elongated lead vinyl sheet is adapted to be secured around the patient's head at eye level. The elongated lead vinyl sheet is further adapted to cover a slice of the patient's head that is confined between two planes, the two planes being parallel to a transverse plane of the patient's head at eye level. Therefore, the eye mask apparatus protects the slice of the patient's head and the patient's eyes from x-ray radiation during the panoramic dental radiography. The lead vinyl sheet is placed over the patient's eyes prior to radiography.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 19, 2023Publication date: April 25, 2024Inventor: Stephen Benjamin Maiman
