  • Publication number: 20250153448
Abstract: A mould tool and a method of manufacturing for forming a compression moulded body from a plurality of stacked layers of polymer material. The mould tool comprises a first section and a top section. The first section has a mould opening defined by a side wall and configured to receive the stacked layers. The top section is configured to close the mould opening to form a mould cavity. The moulding opening side wall includes at least one recess to accommodate polymer material from the stacked layers when the stacked layers are compressed by movement of the top section towards the first section.

  • Publication number: 20250083399
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a body, the method comprising: forming a plurality of layers (301) of composite material comprising reinforcement fibre and polyaryletherketone, a first layer (301) of the plurality of layers (301) being shaped such that in a first region it is narrower along a first axis than a second layer (301); stacking the plurality of layers (301) within a mould cavity (905) of a mould tool (900) such that the first layer (301) defines a first side of the stack and the second layer (301) is within the stack; and compression moulding the stacked plurality of layers (301) within the mould cavity (905); wherein the mould cavity (905) is defined by at least one surface of the mould tool (900) shaped to align the slacked plurality of layers (301) in the first region such that a resulting compression moulded body is thinner in the first region than in a second region.

  • Publication number: 20230293784
Abstract: The invention relates to a device comprising a compression moulded body portion comprising at least one layer of composite material. The composite material comprises reinforcement fibre and polyaryletherketone. At least one layer of composite material has a first region and a second region, wherein the polyaryletherketone content in the first region is higher than the polyaryletherketone content of the second region.

  • Patent number: 10918491
Abstract: The invention relates to a femoral component (1) of a knee replacement assembly. The knee replacement assembly is arranged to articulate about an articulation axis (X). The femoral component comprises an outer surface (100), wherein the outer surface is arranged to define a replacement condyle; and an inner surface (200), opposed to the outer surface, wherein the inner surface is adapted for attachment to a prepared distal femur. The inner surface comprises portions (210, 220, 230, 240) provided with mutually-parallel ridges (201) and grooves (202). The ridges and grooves are arranged to provide an increased or reduced stiffness of the femoral component when cantilevered about the articulation axis compared with a stiffness of the femoral component when cantilevered about a transverse axis.
