Abstract: A cash drawer unit is disclosed having a cash drawer moveable between an open position and a closed position, a plunger, and a storage box for storing banknotes and having a slot for receiving the banknotes. The plunger and the storage box are mounted for relative movement therebetween when the cash drawer unit is moved between the open and closed positions. The plunger and the storage box are arranged so as to be spaced apart when the cash drawer unit is in its open position thus allowing a banknote to be placed between the plunger and the slot, the relative movement of the plunger and the storage box causing the plunger to push the banknote through the slot into the storage box.
