  • Patent number: 8272073
Abstract: An athletic protective pad having first and second layers of breathable fabric and a foam body having a layer of perforated foam. The layer of foam is preferably closed cell foam with spaced apart perforations therethrough. The foam body is sandwiched in a secure or permanent position between the first and second layers of fabric, thereby wicking moisture away from a wearer.

Date of Patent: September 25, 2012
    Assignee: Stromgren Athletics, Inc.
Inventors: Stephen C. Arensdorf, Edward H. Tobergte
  • Publication number: 20110041226
Abstract: A compression sport pant compliments the pelvic region and legs and supports the hamstring muscles of a wearer. A neoprene liner in the back of a leg portion and in contact with the associated leg of the wearer holds natural body heat next to the wearer's skin. A stretchable, relatively wide strap is wrapped around the leg portion over the liner when the garment is worn to apply additional support to the hamstring area.

  • Patent number: 7828759
Abstract: An ankle support has a tubular sock-like elastic sheath which, in use, is slipped over the foot and ankle of a wearer and extends upwardly over the lower leg, the sheath thereby having lateral and medial sides and a posterior end for receiving the heel of a wearer. Heel locks are provided by lateral and medial elastic locking straps secured to the sheath at a bottom portion of the posterior end of the sheath, and at a rear portion of the sheath (back of the heel) above the posterior end. The action of the two locking straps locks the heel of the wearer against lateral and medial movement. An elastic wrap on the sheath over the foot and ankle of the wearer overlies the lateral and medial portions of the locking straps to provide a lift to the heel.

  • Patent number: 5676641
Abstract: A reusable ankle support for stabilizing the ankle region comprises a sock-like elastic sheath provided with longitudinally inflexible, medial and lateral reinforcing elements, a pair of crossed, elongated elastic strap members attached to the bottom of the sheath and a guide fastener on the front top of the sheath. After the sheath is positioned on the foot of the wearer, the strap members are wrapped around the ankle in a predetermined manner over the sheath and reinforcing elements. The guide fastener engages a portion of at least one strap so as to provide a desired tension thereto. The strap configuration is such that a pair of stirrups are presented which are limited in elasticity by stretch locks. Once applied to the ankle, the longitudinal inflexibility of the reinforcing elements and the stirrup-lock system and the uplifting support of the stirrups provide medial and lateral rigidity to restrain the ankle from rolling to the outside or inside.

  • Patent number: 5161257
Abstract: A compression sport pant is disclosed having pad pockets which are constructed in a manner to prevent early failure of the fabric of the garment to which the pockets are attached. The upper corners of the hip and tailbone pockets are anchored to the waistband, and the ends of the pocket seams are spaced sufficiently below the waistband to provide a region of the garment below the waistband that is free to stretch without exceeding its elastic limit in response to the pull on the waistband which will occur when a wearer puts on the pant.

  • Patent number: 4691697
Abstract: A prophylactic knee support(s) including a planar impact bar attached to upper and lower mounting bars. The upper and lower mounting bars are fastened to portions of the leg above and below the knee of the user by wraps encircling the appropriate leg portions. Shock absorbers and pressure plates are associated with the impact and mounting bars so as to absorb and dissipate forces resulting from blows directed on the impact bar. The absorption and dissipation diminishes the effect of the blow on the knee including the possibility of undesirable lateral shifting and/or twisting of the knee in response to said blow.
