    Abstract: A steerable motorized power unit is constructed for detachable coupling to a conventional occupant propelled wheelchair in a manner such that it can be easily and conveniently coupled to, or uncoupled from, the chair by the occupant. Coupling pins are provided with mounting plates which can be fixedly clamped to the tubular chair frame at a selected position without requiring any modification to the frame and without interfering with the normal operation of the chair.
