    Abstract: An edge sharpening device has a metal body and at least one honing surface coated with ceramic created in an electrolytic bath. Profiles of the device can be triangular, planar, or V-shaped as well as curved. The ceramic can be deposited by passing a modified shaped wave alternating current through the incipient sharpening device in the presence of a passivating agent and an electrolytic agent.
