  • Patent number: 10874818
Abstract: An aerosol delivery system, which includes an aerosol delivery unit, the aerosol delivery unit including: a cartridge receiver, which is configured to receive a cartridge assembly; and an inductor configured to receive the cartridge assembly and heat a liquid formulation within a capillary tube to produce an aerosol by induction heating. The cartridge assembly including an active part of the cartridge assembly including a capillary tube; a susceptor, the susceptor configured to partially surround the capillary tube; and a pair of displaceable covers, which surround at least the capillary tube and the susceptor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 26, 2017
Date of Patent: December 29, 2020
    Assignee: Philip Morris USA Inc.

  • Publication number: 20120282681
Abstract: There is provided a device that retains a collected sample for on-demand testing of a small portion of the collected sample while the rest of the sample remains for optional additional analysis. The on-demand test provides relatively immediate information about aspects of the sample, e.g. presence of microbes, chemistry, nutritional condition, presence of contaminants.

  • Patent number: 6851171
Abstract: A multi-channel device fabrication process and multi-channel devices made therefrom wherein two ribbons of sheet material edge webs and, optionally, additional webs and/or support members are secured to a ribbon of sheet material base web. The resulting partial laminate is separated into subassemblies, each subassembly comprising a base and two edge strips and, optionally, additional strips which cooperate to define a plurality of open channels with, optionally, support members. A plurality of subassemblies may stacked together with an end plate to form a complete stack, the edges of each subassembly being attached together to form a complete unit. One or more headers or manifolds may be attached to the outside of the complete unit to provide combined fluid inlet to, and egress from, the unit.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: February 8, 2005
    Assignee: Battelle Memorial Institute

  • Patent number: 6490812
Abstract: The present invention is an active microchannel fluid processing unit and method of making, both relying on having (a) at least one inner thin sheet; (b) at least one outer thin sheet; (c) defining at least one first sub-assembly for performing at least one first unit operation by stacking a first of the at least one inner thin sheet in alternating contact with a first of the at least one outer thin sheet into a first stack and placing an end block on the at least one inner thin sheet, the at least one first sub-assembly having at least a first inlet and a first outlet; and (d) defining at least one second sub-assembly for performing at least one second unit operation either as a second flow path within the first stack or by stacking a second of the at least one inner thin sheet in alternating contact with second of the at least one outer thin sheet as a second stack, the at least one second sub-assembly having at least a second inlet and a second outlet.
