  • Patent number: 10900592
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for supporting a pipeline in a trench. The disclosure is directed to the placement of urea-silicate sprayable or pumpable foams into trenches to provide pipeline pillow supports during placement of the pipeline and to form trench breakers in the trench prior to the trench being backfilled. The pillow supports and trench breakers inhibit erosion of the trench prior to and after being backfilled. The urea-silicate foam material has an open cell content of at least 50% to resist floatation, is non-flammable and electrically conductive. Also disclosed is use of supports for placement between the urea-silicate foam and the bottom of the trench to aid in utilization of the urea-silicate foams in cold weather conditions and in trenches with steeply sloped bottoms. Preferably the supports are biodegradable and electrically conductive when wet.

  • Patent number: 10480320
Abstract: The present invention is a manually bendable rebar bolt for use in ground reinforcement, particularly in mining operations. The rebar bolt is a steel rod having a length and a width. The cross-sectional area of the bolt taken along the width generally perpendicular to said length has a long axis and a short axis. The bendable rebar bolt can be manually bent in a direction generally perpendicular to said long axis.

  • Patent number: 8926230
Abstract: A low profile tensionable bolt cable system and method of installation. The tensionable bolt cable has a tension cylinder with a constant diameter throughout its length and a threaded exterior. A bearing plate is provided with an opening and a first mating member. The tension cylinder has a proximal and a distal end with the proximal end having an angled interior surface and a longitudinally extending second mating member. The first and second mating members mate when the tension cylinder is inserted into the bearing plate. Angled wedges are inserted into the angled interior surface. A cable is inserted into the tension cylinder and between the wedges to hold the cable with respect to the tension cylinder to prevent the cable from twisting. A nut is threaded onto the tension cylinder, to tension the cable.

  • Publication number: 20110299940
Abstract: A strata support system that provides support and balance to a rock mass and reacts to movement of the rock mass. The strata support system includes a borehole that is drilled into a surface of the rock mass. A resin is disposed in the borehole to secure a cable within the borehole. An anchor cable bolt assembly having a plurality of strands that are twisted together to form the cable is inserted into the borehole. At least one of the plurality of strands includes an interrupted outer surface that is defined by a plurality of spaced indentations. The plurality of spaced indentations are formed along the length of the strand and provide for a plurality of surface contours to enhance engagement of the anchor cable bolt with the resin.

  • Publication number: 20030039514
Abstract: A surface plate for supporting generally planar loads, specifically mine roofs. The present invention generally relates to a surface plate that is capable of supporting a mine roof. Surface plates in accord with the preferred embodiments of the present invention comprise a plurality of embossments. The embossments provide the surface plates with increased strength when compared against the prior art. In the preferred embodiments, one of the plurality of embossments is a continuous perimeter embossment that generally parallels the outer perimeter of the surface plate. Another of the plurality of embossments is a circular embossment located at the center of the surface plate wherein a central opening through which a mine roof bolt is received is located. The preferred embodiments may further comprise a plurality of radial embossments that extend from the central embossment to the perimeter embossment. These radial embossments may be arranged in a regular pattern around the central embossment.

  • Patent number: 5127769
Abstract: A method of installing a tensioned roof bolt in a borehole of a rock formation without the aid of a mechanical anchoring device or threaded tensioning threads by applying thrust to the bolt (19) as the bonding material (7') is curing to compress the strata (3) surrounding the borehole (1), and then relieving the thrust when the bonding material (7') has cured.
