    Abstract: A method of fabricating panels includes providing an insert having an interior portion with a top portion and a positioning stop opposite the top portion, and an exterior portion including a fastener hem. Further, the method includes placing the insert in a mold such that only the fastener hem and the positioning stop contact the mold and centering the insert in the mold with the top portion and the positioning stop. The method also includes filling the mold with a casting material such that the interior portion is submerged in the casting material including the top portion, but some of the positioning stop is not submerged in the casting material, curing the casting material to form a panel on the insert, and removing the panel form the mold.

    Abstract: A method (200) is disclosed for designing an RNP approach for an aircraft at a particular runway (90). The method includes selecting a runway (201), gathering obstacle data for the obstacle evaluation area (202), selecting a VEB method and terms (204), laying out a preliminary approach, inducing a missed approach segment (206), calculating a preliminary obstacle clearance surface (208), calculating a momentary descent segment using a physical model of the aircraft (210), adjusting the obstacle clearance surface so that no obstacles intersect the surface (212), and optionally optimizing the approach by departing from the operator's standard procedures (214). Preferably, the obstacle clearance surface is adjusted so that it just touches an obstacle, without any object intersecting the surface, thereby providing an optimal decision altitude.

    Abstract: One side of a primary flight display has a vertical airspeed scale, a round dial display, and a window. The round dial display provides global or macro airspeed information and a digital display of a present airspeed value is provided in the window. A vertical altitude scale is located on a second side of the PFD with a second round dial located along the altitude scale. The second dial is configured to provide a predetermined amount of rotation of the pointer for a predetermined change in altitude. A second window located along the altitude scale provides a digital present value of altitude.

A rolling drum display provides a digital display of a present value of airspeed. An elongated vertically disposed altitude dial display is located on a second side of the primary flight display. The second dial display is configured to provide a predetermined amount of rotation of the pointer for a lo predetermined change in altitude. A second rolling drum display provides a digital present value of altitude. The elongated dial displays provide greatly expanded display areas and improved readout resolution.
