  • Patent number: 6766447
Abstract: A method of initializing random access memory during a BIOS process executed by a processor that is configured to perform speculative reading. The ROM BIOS is modified such that speculative reading is prevented during the memory initialization.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 25, 2000
Date of Patent: July 20, 2004
    Assignee: Dell Products L.P.
Inventors: Stephen D. Jue, Matthew B. Mendelow
  • Patent number: 6718488
Abstract: In an information processing system, a failed bus operation is detected. In response to the detecting, a primary power plan is cycled in the information processing system.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 3, 1999
Date of Patent: April 6, 2004
    Assignee: Dell USA, L.P.
Inventors: Stephen D. Jue, Todd R. Martin
  • Patent number: 6567931
Abstract: A basic input output system (BIOS) or equivalently functional circuitry can determine when an invalid shutdown event occurred (e.g., power loss) and subsequently, whether a false remote system wake event is received by the computer system and allow processing to bypass wakeup processing to avoid false wakeup commands received from components of the computer system such as LAN cards and modems. A computer system employing false wakeup command functionality is further claimed along with medium storing means for preventing wakeup processing when a false wakeup command is received.
