Abstract: Provided are a method and system for determining a number of processors to execute a task. A determination is made of a scaling factor indicating a marginal performance benefit of adding one of a plurality of processors to execute a task. The determined scaling factor is used to determine a number of processors to assign to execute the task and the task is executed using the determined number of processors.

Abstract: According to an embodiment, a method of providing location-based services to a wireless device using a hotspot access point is provided comprising establishing a connection between the wireless device and the hotspot access point, and providing information associated with the physical location of the hotspot access point to the wireless device. There is also provided a method of securing services provided through a hotspot access point, a method of billing services provided through a hotspot access point and a method of providing access to an application through a hotspot access point.
