Abstract: Pharmaceutical compositions containing tetrathiomolybdate (TTM) are disclosed. Pharmaceutical compositions and formulations that contain TTM along with other co-drugs, such as diethylcarbamazine (DEC) and astaxanthin (ATX), are also disclosed. Formulations include a delayed release oral form that releases the TTM in the gastrointestinal tract after the oral form passes the stomach, and an enteric oral form that is not a delayed release form are disclosed. Methods of treating cancer, treating cancer patients as an adjuvant therapy, and treating pulmonary arterial hypertension by administering the pharmaceutical compositions are further disclosed.

These drugs are also prone to oxidation and the final degradation products depend on the reactants and the reaction conditions. This invention describes the use of inactivating agents such as permanganates, peroxides, persulfates, bismuthates, periodates or other oxidants in a dosage form as an approach to minimize abuse and overdose. The product is designed such that the inactivating agent is released if there is an attempt to extract the drug from the formulation or in cases of overdose. Once released, the inactivating agent quickly degrades the drug and converts it into inactive compounds. Since the reactants (drug and inactivating agent) are incompatible in situations of normal drug usage, they are kept separated within the vehicle of the invention, but released for interaction in case of misuse.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to aqueous based formulations of water-soluble prodrugs of propofol. The formulations comprise in aqueous medium an effective amount of the water-soluble prodrug of propofol in the absence of an antioxidant. The formulations are particularly useful as intravenous injections. The formulations preferably are buffered to a pH suitable for minimizing degradation of the prodrug during storage. The formulations can be prepared without the use of harmful co-solvents or surfactants and are stable at room temperature over extended periods of time.
