Patent number: 10271134Abstract: Disclosed is a 2D Matrix Array Backing Interconnect Assembly that provides a structure that enables simple construction of complex wring for an ultrasonic transducer array of desired dimension. A backing interconnect assembly can be produced by forming a plurality of high density interconnect printed circuit boards, with layers each having a respective array of metal traces, wherein the metal traces are internally connected one-to-one to electrically conductive pads. An end of the metal traces are exposed at a surface to form respective conductive elements. High density interconnect printed circuit boards can be attached to a flexible printed circuit having contact pads that correspond to conductive pads of the printed circuit boards to form interconnect modules. The interconnect modules can be attached to form a backing interconnect assembly. The backing interconnect assembly with exposed conductive elements provides complex wiring interconnect for manufacture of small sized 2D ultrasonic transducer arrays.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2014Date of Patent: April 23, 2019Assignee: COVARX CORPORATIONInventor: Stephen Douglas

Patent number: 9216574Abstract: In an ink jet printer (2), where there is relative movement between a print carriage (4) and a print table (6) to print on to a substrate mounted on the table (6), the gradient of the print table at each position of the print carriage (4) is used to produce a compensated position of the print carriage (4), and printing data is sent to the print head according to the compensated position instead of the actual position. This delays or advances the release of ink, to compensate for the difference in the time taken for the ink to reach a substrate mounted on the print table (6) when the print gap between print heads and print table (6) is not constant.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2012Date of Patent: December 22, 2015Assignee: Inca Digital Printers LimitedInventors: Stephen George Tunnicliffe-Wilson, Adam Woolfe, Stephen Douglas, Nicholas John Campbell

Publication number: 20110262714Abstract: A method to produce a press felt for a fiber web producing and/or processing machine, including the steps of a) providing a load bearing base structure, which is, for example, produced of yarns, b) providing a first and a second non-woven fiber layer, c) imprinting a polymer material pattern onto the first or second non-woven fiber layer so that the polymer material pattern partially covers the layer, d) arranging the first non-woven fiber layer on one side of the base structure and e) arranging the second non-woven fiber layer on the first non-woven fiber layer in such a manner that the polymer material pattern is arranged between the two non-woven fiber layers. The present invention further relates to a press felt manufactured according to the method of the present invention.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2011Publication date: October 27, 2011Inventors: Andrew Allum, John Jeffery, Stephen Douglas, David Stuart Ponton, Antony Morton

Publication number: 20110250355Abstract: A method for producing a polymer topographic pattern on a continuous strip which has a longitudinal orientation and transverse orientation perpendicular thereto. The pattern is applied to an area of the continuous strip to be imprinted by means of an application device moving in relation to the strip in a basic movement which is parallel to the transverse orientation of the strip to produce the pattern. During production of the pattern, the position of the continuous strip parallel to its transverse orientation, relative to a stationary reference position, is measured and the position of the application device is changed by a correction movement parallel to the transverse orientation of the continuous strip when the position of the continuous strip parallel to its transverse orientation is changed, the correction movement being superimposed to the basic movement.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2011Publication date: October 13, 2011Inventors: Andrew Allum, John Jeffrey, David S. Ponton, Antony Morton, Stephen Douglas

Patent number: 6396199Abstract: A double-sided flexible circuit is used to provide interconnection to a piezoelectric ultrasonic transducer array. The ultrasonic crystal is covered with first and second electrode layers having an insulation gap provided therebetween. The flexible circuit material is then bonded to the first and second electrode layers so that one side of the double sided flexible circuit makes contact to one set of transducer electrodes and the other side of the flexible circuit makes contact to the second set of transducer electrodes. The ultrasonic transducer desirably includes a concave acoustic lens having an acoustic velocity greater than water.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2000Date of Patent: May 28, 2002Assignee: Prosonic Co., Ltd.Inventors: Stephen Douglas, Shinji Ogawa
