Patent number: 11973661Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to a computer system that includes a memory electronically coupled to a processor system. The processor system is operable to perform processor system operations that include accessing a graph model representation of a computer network. The graph model is used to implement a resiliency-problem identification analysis that identifies a set of resiliency problems in the graph model. The graph model is used to apply a resiliency-problem solution analysis to a resiliency problem in the set of resiliency problems to generate a set of resiliency-problem solutions. Each resiliency-problem solution in the set of resiliency-problem solutions is ranked.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2023Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Thomas Downes Griffin, Stephen Buckley, Eric Kevin Butler, Divyesh Jadav, Rakesh Jain

Publication number: 20160253483Abstract: According to one aspect there is provided a method and an apparatus for facilitating intellectual property rights compliance that is compliant with a same-origin security policy that prohibits the application from executing application-specific instructions from the first domain that access application-specific instructions from the second domain. The method includes receiving a structured document from a first domain, the structured document having at least one content object, a reference to at least one digital rights compliance (DRC) object located on a second domain and associated with the at least one content object, and application-specific instructions being executable by the application. The at least one DRC object is defined in a non-executable format and contains information indicative of rights associated with the at least one content.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 13, 2016Publication date: September 1, 2016Inventors: Stephen Downes, Rodrigue Savoie

Publication number: 20100305082Abstract: Fertility problems affect (1 in 10) couples in Western society, making it one of the most common serious health issues. Despite this, little is known about the causes of infertility, and thus patient counseling and treatment are suboptimal. With infertility being such a common problem, identification of any cause would impact on a large number of patients, allowing better counseling, clearer diagnoses and the possibility of making more informed choices (e.g. adoption vs. IVF treatment). The present invention provides methods to identify a cause of infertility in a subject based on the genotype of the subject, in particular, by evaluating the status of the gene encoding FK506 binding protein-like (FKBPL). In particular, the present invention relates to use of the status of the gene encoding FK506 binding protein-like for identification of a cause of an infertile phenotype in a subject.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2008Publication date: December 2, 2010Inventors: Stephen Downes, Colum Walsh, Olaf Sunnotel, Laszlo Hiripi, David Hirst, Tracy Robson

Patent number: 5224715Abstract: An improved metal-to-metal seal of a generally U shaped configuration which utilizes an enlarged seal portion on the interior and exterior of the inner and outer seal legs to effect an initial seal. The initial interference of the seal legs is maintained by disposing a solid support ring in the annulus between the seal legs with holes in the support ring to prevent pressure lock and to balance pressure distribution within the seal. The invention is shown in a unidirectional form with a single pair of seal legs extending axially from an annular base and in a bidirectional form with a pair of seal legs extending axially in both directions from an annular base. An alternative form of the invention discloses a support member of U shaped configuration which allows greater flexibility in the seal legs while maintaining initial sealing contact. This support member also has holes to prevent pressure lock and to balance pressure distribution within the seal.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 1992Date of Patent: July 6, 1993Assignee: Cooper Industries, Inc.Inventors: Stephen Downes, David Gill
