    Abstract: A method executed in a server system is provided for transmitting one or more outbound EDI documents in an EDI network, each outbound EDI document containing a respective unique document identifier. The method includes the generation of formatted files containing a document identifier and a translator machine capable for translating the formatted files into EDI documents. Another method translates inbound EDI documents by generating formatted files containing a document identifier comprising values extracted from each inbound EDI document.
