  • Patent number: 4734961
Abstract: A rope widening apparatus in which a sliding bolt is disposed within the strands of a rope so that a tensile force on the rope draws it and its downstream convex tapered pressing surface toward a concave frustum pressing surface on a case front portion, thus pressing the strands between the two surfaces - the harder the pull on the rope, the harder the strands are pressed between the surfaces. The sliding bolt is configured to utilize the locking phenomenon of tubular interlocking stranded rope to prevent the sliding bolt from moving upstream along the rope.

  • Patent number: 4458389
Abstract: A rope widening apparatus for use with tubular interlocking stranded rope comprising a rear tapered portion located on a generally football shaped insert to be placed within the strand groups of said rope, such that a force tending to draw the rope from the narrow to the large part of the taper will cause the strand groups to squeeze around the taper, and means to maintain the insert generally centrally disposed within the strand groups, and means to transfer the pulling force on the rope from the rear tapered portion to a desired object.

  • Patent number: 4190011
Abstract: A boat mooring apparatus comprising two main units, namely, a boat mooring line apparatus and a boat mooring cleat apparatus, used to releasably secure a boat to a mooring post. The boat mooring line apparatus constitutes a mooring line of a given diameter with several bulges spaced therealong, the bulges having a diameter greater than that of the mooring line, with the distal end of the line comprising a slip-loop. The cleat apparatus includes two substantially parallel spaced apart members which between them define a slot that is as wide as the diameter of the mooring line, but narrower than the diameter of any bulge on the line. The parallel spaced members are transversely registered at one end where they are affixed to a mounting plate for securement to a boat. One member is inverted U-shaped so that it rises from the boat, thereafter extends along and spaced from the boat, and then extends back to the boat.

  • Patent number: 4109603
Abstract: A Boat Mooring Apparatus, comprising two main units -- a Boat Mooring Line Apparatus and a Boat Mooring Cleat Apparatus -- used to releasably secure a boat to a mooring post. The Boat Mooring Line Apparatus comprises a mooring line of a given diameter with several bulges spaced along one end, the bulges having a diameter greater than that of the mooring line, with the opposite end comprising a slip-loop. The cleat includes two substantially parallel spaced apart arched members which between them define an arched slot, that is as wide as the diameter of the mooring line, but narrower than the diameter of any bulge on the line. Both ends of the parallel spaced arched members are transversely registered. A mounting plate is affixed to each pair of ends and is provided for interconnecting the ends, and for securing the ends to the boat. The members are arched so that they rise from the boat, thereafter extend along and spaced from the boat, and then extend back to the boat.
