  • Patent number: 9107720
Abstract: A cable tensioning system includes a reaction frame which contains a sliding platform arranged to move linearly within the frame, and a clam-type cleat attached to the sliding platform. The cleat features one or more grooves, each of which comprises two arrays of opposing ridges that converge to form a V-shape groove adapted to receive a length of cable. The ridges of each groove are tilted relative to an axis perpendicular to the groove's longitudinal axis, such that the cable is progressively captured between the ridges of the opposing arrays as it settles into the crotch of the groove when moved in a first direction, and can be disengaged from the cleat by relaxing the axial force on the cable and moving it in the opposite direction. A linear actuator mechanism may be coupled to the sliding platform to move the platform with respect to the reaction frame.

  • Patent number: 5542796
Abstract: A system is provided for drilling through contiguous first and second plate members so as to avoid the formation of burrs at their interface. Using a jig, the plate members are held together at distant locations while assuming a desired mutual orientation in a longitudinally extending upright plane. Loosely suspended from a frame manually movable along the length of the jig, a horseshoe shaped yoke is positioned in a laterally extending upright plane and has a pair of depending legs straddling and adjacent to their associated plate members to be drilled. A hole finding pin on a first leg is manually inserted into a pilot bore provided in the first plate member. Thereupon, opposed clamps on the depending legs firmly engage the plate members in the region of the pilot bore. From the side of the second plate member, enlarged sized bores are drilled through the plate members axially aligned with the pilot bore.

  • Patent number: 5050284
Abstract: A rivet setting apparatus having a first driver with a rivet deforming piece and an opposite second driver with a rivet deforming piece. One of the rivet deforming pieces has an outer housing with a deforming seat in its front end and an aperture into the deforming seat. Located in the aperture is a movable ram that can extend into the deforming seat. The ram and outer housing are movable at different rates and distances from home positions to deform a rivet.
