  • Patent number: 9532748
Abstract: With explosive penetration of portable electronic devices (PEDs) recent focus into consumer EEG devices has been to bring advantages including localized wireless interfacing, portability, and a low-cost high-performance electronics platform to host the processing algorithms to bear. However, most development continues to focus on brain-controlled video games which are nearly identical to those created for earlier, more stationary consumer EEG devices and personal EEG is treated as of a novelty or toy. According to embodiments of the invention the inventors have established new technologies and solutions that address these limitations within the prior art and provide benefits including, but not limited to, global acquisition and storage of acquired EEG data and processed EEG data, development interfaces for expansion and re-analysis of acquired EEG data, integration to other non-EEG derived user data, and long-term user wearability.

  • Publication number: 20070162216
Abstract: A method of controlling an HCCI engine-based power system may include receiving performance information relating to a desired operating state for the HCCI engine-based power system, evaluating operational information associated with a current operating state of the HCCI engine-based power system, and determining one or more control parameter values based on the performance information and the operational information. The method may further include predicting a response of the HCCI engine-based power system based on the one or more control parameter values and determining whether the response satisfies one or more desired performance characteristics associated with the HCCI engine-based power system. If the response satisfies the one or more desired performance characteristics, control of at least one component of the HCCI engine-based power system may be enabled based on the one or more control parameter values.

  • Publication number: 20050109208
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for regenerating a NOx adsorber coupled with an exhaust of an engine. An actuator drives a throttle valve to a first position when regeneration of the NOx adsorber is desired. The first position is a position that causes the regeneration of the NOx adsorber. An actuator drives the throttle valve to a second position while regeneration of the NOx adsorber is still desired. The second position being a position that is more open than the first position and operable to regenerate a NOx adsorber.

  • Publication number: 20050098149
Abstract: A method of operating an internal combustion engine, including at least one cylinder and a piston slidable in the cylinder, may include supplying a mixture of pressurized air and recirculated exhaust gas from an intake manifold to an air intake port of a combustion chamber in the cylinder, selectively operating an air intake valve to open the air intake port to allow pressurized air to flow between the combustion chamber and the intake manifold substantially during a majority portion of a compression stroke of the piston, and operably controlling a fuel supply system to inject fuel into the combustion chamber after the intake valve is closed.
