  • Patent number: 11468752
Abstract: A clip is provided. The clip includes first and second shells shaped to mate around a band. An inward facing surface of the first shell has a lateral groove shaped to accommodate the fiber optic filament of the band and at least one protrusion. When the first and second shells are mated around the band the at least one protrusion passes through one of the holes in the band and engages a matching groove in an inward facing surface of the second shell. The first and second shells have a shape such that, when the first shell and the second shell mate around the band and lock into the connector, the first shell and the second shell collectively block any exterior light from reaching the light detection circuitry of the connector along the path of the band other than light through the fiber optic filament.

  • Patent number: 10909840
Abstract: A monitoring device includes a housing enclosing electronic circuitry including a light emitter array and first and second light receivers, a band lockably attachable to the housing, the band including a first optical filament, a second optical filament, and mounting holes between the first and second optical filaments, the mounting holes being part of a locking mechanism that locks the band to the housing. Both ends of the band are attached to the housing, the first optical filament at least partially defines a first optical path between the light emitter array and the first light receiver, and the second optical filament at least partially defines a second optical path between the light emitter array and the second light receiver. Different alert levels will issue based on whether unexpected light is received on the different optical paths.

  • Patent number: 8952807
Abstract: A location tracking device is provided. Wireless communications circuitry is configured to transmit position data representative of the location of the tracking device to a remote location, and communicate locally within an auxiliary device. The tracking device has a first operational mode in response to the absence of communication with the auxiliary device, where the tracking device is maintained in a normal operational mode. The tracking device is configured to enter a second operational mode in response to communication being established between the tracking device and the auxiliary device, where in the second operational mode at least a portion of the tracking device is placed in a reduced operational mode.

  • Patent number: 8334769
Abstract: A tracking device is provided. A position determiner is configured to determine a position of the tracking device. The tracking device has first and second operating modes, the first operating mode being in response to at least the absence of a data communications link with an external wireless node, the second operating mode being in response to at least the presence of communication with an external wireless node. In the first operating mode, the tracking device periodically determines its position from the position determiner and maintains a position history of the tracking device. In the second operating mode, the tracking device reduces the operations of the position determiner relative to the first operating mode. In association with the tracking device transitioning from the first operating mode to the second operating mode, the tracking device wirelessly transmits the position history.

  • Patent number: 6774797
Abstract: A tracking tag worn by an individual which cooperates with a monitoring center to monitor the location of individuals. The tracking tag has a number of location determination features, including GPS and cellular geolocation methods. The tag includes a processor, flash memory, a wireless modem, a GPS receiver and tamper detection components. The tags of the system provide location information to the monitoring center on a regular periodic basis. The monitoring center maintains historical data of tag location correlated with tag positional information from both the GPS and cellular systems to enhance the verification of real-time positional information as it is received in real time from the tags. The system allows for a complex set of permissible and impermissible activities for the tag wearer and provides for detection and notification of violations.
