Patent number: 9047026Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for labeling inserted pages within a print preview of a print job. The system receives print data comprising logical pages, and receives instructions for inserting pages among the logical pages of the print data. The system further receives a request for a print preview for the print data, identifies inserts for the print data based on the instructions, rasterizes the logical pages of the print data and the inserts to generate sheet images for the print preview, and includes non-printing marks in the sheet images for the inserts that distinguish the inserts from rasterized logical pages of the print data. The system further transmits the sheet images of the print preview.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2011Date of Patent: June 2, 2015Assignee: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventors: Stephen G. Price, David Ward

Patent number: 8262196Abstract: Methods and apparatus for user customization of flush patterns in an ink-based printing system. Features and aspects hereof provide for user input to define a flush pattern and to define a location at which the flush pattern is to be placed on sheetside images. By integrating the flush pattern as defined by the user into the sheetside images, the flush pattern may convey useful information or may at least be aesthetically acceptable as compared to prior flush pattern definitions. The user may select among a plurality of standard, pre-defined patterns and locations or may define a fully customized pattern to be placed at a fully customized location. Text or other potentially useful patterns may be defined by the user. Analysis of the sheetside images may permit the user to define placement of the pattern so as to avoid occluding information imprinted on the sheetside images.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2007Date of Patent: September 11, 2012Assignee: Ricoh Production Print Solutions LLCInventors: Joan L. Mitchell, Stephen G. Price

Publication number: 20120218592Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for temporarily modifying how a printer utilizing media-based scheduling handles jobs that are forced to print. In one embodiment, a print controller marks print jobs as eligible to print that have a media type corresponding to media loaded at the printer. Printing of the eligible print jobs is initiated, and a request to print an ineligible print job is received by the print controller. The print controller temporarily marks the eligible print jobs as ineligible, indicates a change to the media loaded at the printer to a media type for the requested print jobs, and initiates printing of the requested print job. Upon completion of printing, the print controller indicates a change back to the media previously loaded at the printer, and then restores the eligibility of the print jobs temporarily marked as ineligible to resume printing of the eligible print jobs.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2011Publication date: August 30, 2012Inventors: Dennis Carney, Charles D. Johnson, David Julie, Thomas Kooh, Kent S. Norgren, Stephen G. Price, Kenneth S. Shouldice

Publication number: 20120194853Abstract: A method is disclosed. The method includes receiving print job data, rasterizing the print job data to produce rasterized bitmap data and validating the accuracy of the bitmap data during transmission of the rasterized bitmap data for printing.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 1, 2011Publication date: August 2, 2012Inventors: Stephen G. Price, James T. Airola, Samuel N. Hopper

Patent number: 8196148Abstract: A print controller, methods, and software are disclosed. A print controller of the invention includes applications, a parameter manager, and a notification system. The applications register with parameter manager those parameters for which they want to be notified when a change occurs. As part of the registration, the applications designate a callback identifier (CID) for each of the parameters, where an individual CID may be associated with a single parameter or a plurality of related parameters. Responsive to receiving an indication of changes to one or more of the parameters, the notification system identifies the applications registered to be notified of changes to the parameters, and identifies the CIDs associated with the parameters that have changed. The notification system then transmits one or more notification messages, including the identified CIDs for the changed parameters, to each application that is registered.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2005Date of Patent: June 5, 2012Assignee: Ricoh Production Print Solutions LLCInventors: Erin A. Publication number: 20080037053Abstract: A printer system and method of managing the printer system. Printer sub-systems can register indicating system parameter affecting or, affected by, each. The printer is monitored for change requests to system parameters and, printer sub-systems are selectively notified of a requested parameter changes. Notified printer sub-systems respond indicating a time to apply each parameter change. Unless changes can be applied immediately, a change notification is displayed, requesting operator intervention and indicating a time for the intervention.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2006Publication date: February 14, 2008Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Erin A. Publication number: 20030088642Abstract: A computer controlled device, such as a networked printer, that incorporates a HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) browser as the operator control device. The computer controlled device already incorporates an HTTP server to allow remote control of the device from other computers or devices on the network. The incorporation of an HTTP browser allows reuse of the HTTP server software as the front panel controls driver, obviating the requirement for the development and maintenance of an independent software module to drive the front panel controls.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 2, 2001Publication date: May 8, 2003Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Stephen G. Patent number: 4991643Abstract: A heat exchanger with an internal bypass valve wherein the open end of a bypass tube mounted within a heat exchanger tube forms a valve seat for the bypass valve. A valve head mounted on a valve rod is spring loaded against the valve seat in the preferred design. The length of the contact arms on the valve body controls the valve activation pressure. The heat exchanger tubes may be mounted in parallel and the bypass valves may be mounted in the same direction or in opposite directions to permit bidirectional bypass flow.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1989Date of Patent: February 12, 1991Assignee: Hayden, Inc.Inventors: Stephen G. Patent number: 4073512Abstract: A device for connecting an auxiliary oil cooler to an existing automobile oil cooling radiator includes a length of tubing having a flared portion at each end. Slidably secured about the tube is a fitting which includes an exterior hex portion for engagement by a wrench, and an exterior threaded portion which is adapted to be secured in a standard, threaded female radiator fitting. The fitting of the invention also includes an interior threaded portion which is adapted to be secured about a standard male radiator fitting.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1976Date of Patent: February 14, 1978Assignee: Hayden Trans-Cooler, Inc.Inventors: David R.
