  • Publication number: 20080214424
Abstract: A soluble unit dose of laundry detergent which comprises: a) a thin walled hard capsule, having a wall thickness between 0.07 and 0.3 mm and, c) within the thin walled hard capsule a detergent composition comprising at least 1 g of surfactant, which makes up at least 45% wt of the detergent composition. wherein the solubility of the capsule and the detergent composition is such that it will reach a level of 90% of eventually dissolved electrolytes in stirred demineralised water at 25° C. in less than 35 seconds. By choice of a capsule with this wall thickness the solubility is ensured while pressure caking of the contents is resisted to minimise overall dissolution time.

  • Publication number: 20080206349
Abstract: The invention provides a method comprising the steps of: (i) providing an emulsion of: a) an aqueous solvent, such as water, b) a carrier material dispersible or soluble in (a), said carrier material being solid at ambient temperature, and preferably being a polymer and inorganic salt or a surfactant, c) a volatile second liquid phase (for example, chloroform) which is not miscible with (a), and d) a material which is dispersible or soluble in (c) but not in (a), and, (ii) Drying the emulsion at above ambient temperature (preferably by spray drying) to simultaneously remove (a) and (c) and thereby obtain the material (b) in solid form with (d) dispersed therein.

  • Patent number: 6613353
Abstract: Capsule formulations are provided containing at least two different fill compositions which are prevented from mixing either by providing both of the fill compositions as solids or by providing a physical barrier which separates the fill compositions so that they are prevented from mixing. The invention has the advantage that two different formulations can be provided in a single capsule without one of the formulations having an adverse effect on the other.

  • Patent number: 5942248
Abstract: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as indomethacin, and other pharmaceutically active compounds, are formulated with bile acids or their salts and conjugates. Bile acids previously proposed for use in such formulations have placed an unacceptable toxic load on the liver and/or cells of the gastrointestinal tract, causing abnormal liver function or cell erosion. In this invention, the bile acid is a low detergent bile acid, such as ursodeoxycholate. Stabilization of the bile acid pool results in enhanced and predictable enterohepatic recycling of NSAIDs (and other drugs) and a reduced risk of toxicity.

  • Patent number: 5767066
Abstract: The application relates to the use of bromelain in the treatment of hypercholesterolaemia and similar diseases. Bromelain is able to act as a bile acid receptor antagonist and therefore to prevent reabsorption of bile acids by the gastrointestinal tract.
