  • Publication number: 20130301663
Abstract: A laser system for generating optical pulses at an operating wavelength of the laser system. The system has an optical resonator comprising first and second reflectors, and a tapered optical fiber disposed between the first and second reflectors. The tapered optical fiber has a core which has a tapered input section which tapers from single mode to multimode at the laser operating wavelength, an inner section of substantially constant diameter capable of supporting multiple modes at the laser operating wavelength and a tapered output section which tapers from a first diameter to a second diameter that is smaller than the first diameter.

  • Publication number: 20130144864
Abstract: A server contains an executable program and is in communication with an online social network. The server is accessed by a subscriber on a client system executing an application program interface to communicate with the server in which the server accesses indexes of data maintained on an online social network platform and retrieves the accessed data. The subscriber creates an account on the server. The executable program builds an index of relevant content for that subscriber to retrieve. The data is processed and aggregated on the server through a subscriber-specific relevancy engine on the server and the aggregated data is delivered to the subscriber on the client system in a searchable database. The subscriber may execute a search query on the client system in communication with the server and search query is processed returning relevant results to the user.

  • Publication number: 20110220436
Abstract: A fall protection system comprising a line wound onto a rotatable pulley having a centrifugal clutch which activates a gearbox which in turn drives an input shaft of a hydraulic actuator whereby the hydraulic actuator controls the rate of rotation of the pulley, and a secondary brake which slows the rotational speed of the pulley should it exceed a predetermined speed, whereby in use, the line is attached to a user to restrain a fall and then the system facilitates unwinding of the line at a controlled speed to effect descent.

  • Publication number: 20080091317
Abstract: A method of controlling a roll control system includes monitoring the position of a steering mechanism of a vehicle. A rate of change of the position of the steering mechanism is determined. The rate of change is compared to a change threshold value. The lateral acceleration of a vehicle is monitored. The lateral acceleration is compared to an acceleration threshold value. A roll control system having at least one of a front and a rear actuator is controlled based at least in part upon the comparisons of the rate of change of the steering mechanism to the change threshold value and the lateral acceleration to the acceleration threshold value. The front and rear actuators are controlled independently of each other depending upon the state of a vehicle stability index.

  • Publication number: 20070255677
Abstract: Users can browse a repository of search results obtained from a search engine by mounting a virtual file system, for example, on a network server over a network. The virtual file system contains a hierarchy of categories and is associated with a document repository. Consequently, although documents could be located anywhere, documents indexed by the virtual file system are accessed by users in the original document locations. Accordingly, all changes made by a user are made to the original document rather than to a copy of the document. Therefore, there is no need to upload a copy of the document to the original file location. The search engine can be associated with the virtual file system so that the search engine recognizes the changed document immediately.

  • Publication number: 20060196372
Abstract: A golf ball having an indicia produced by ink jet printing is disclosed. An ink composition containing a coloring agent and a resin is dispensed on a transfer medium, using an ink jet printer, to form an indicia. The indicia is transferred from the transfer medium to the dimpled surface of a golf ball. In another form of the invention, an indicia is applied directly to a golf ball, without a transfer medium. In this method, an indicia receiving layer is applied on at least a portion of the golf ball surface, then the indicia is printed directly on the indicia receiving layer using an ink jet printer. The indicia on the golf ball has an impact resistance suitable for use in competitive play.

  • Patent number: 6231463
Abstract: A golf ball having improved aerodynamic efficiency is characterized by the arrangement of a plurality of modified tear-drop shaped dimples arranged on the surface thereof. The ball has a dimple-free equator which divides the ball into two identical hemispheres, each of which is broken into equal portions by a plurality of great circles passing through the poles of the ball. Each portion has a maximum circular area filled with a first plurality of non-circular dimples. A second plurality of non-circular dimples is arranged between the circular areas so that the dimple coverage on the ball is maximized.
