  • Patent number: 4502727
Abstract: A cycle seat with a back is moulded of either plastic or metal material and is fixed to a conventional cycle seat post with a standard racheting clamp and an unique spring cradle. The cradle accepts a horizontal pivot bolt journalled in the forward portion of the cradle and secured in spaced rails on the seat bottom. A spring bears against the seat bottom from a spring cup of the spring cradle, biasing the front contacts or limbs of the cradle against the seat bottom in front of the pivot bolt. The seat rails and the cradle may have other rail and cradle apertures or slots to adjust the seat and cradle horizontally with respect to the seat mount post of the cycle. If the seat is of moulded plastic a metal shell with side rails and matching apertures may be positioned between the seat bottom and the cradle and its spring.

  • Patent number: 4141587
Abstract: The seat has a base and a backrest with the backrest curving upwardly from the base. A pad of similar configuration is fixed to the base and the backrest. A pair of spaced leaf springs intervene between the pad and the seat in the zone where the base and backrest join. The seat is fastened to the cycle by means of a pierced post bracket. A longitudinal frame fixed to the seat base has spaced rails with pluralities of transversely aligned apertures in which a transverse rod may be selectively placed to locate the seat base with respect to the post bracket which is adapted to be secured to the seat post rising from the cycle frame. A forward clamp near the front end of the seat base clamps about a horizontal frame member of the cycle. The clamp restrains a strap secured in vertically spaced relationship to the bottom portion of the seat base. The strap adjustably restrains a forward portion of the post bracket.

  • Patent number: 3970345
Abstract: A seat with integral backrest attaches to a conventional cycle seat frame such that the seat adjusts forward and back on the frame. The frame attaches normally to the conventional cycle seat post. The backrest of the seat is peripherally configured and perforated to receive straps and anchor bands of accessories such as backpacks, bulk containers and sunshades. Horizontal racks on the underside of the seat movably anchor the seat frame to the cycle and afford attachment means for accessory platforms for either cargo or persons. Either is additionally supported from the back of the cycle frame above the rear wheel thereof. The front seat portion has a coupler securing the seat to the cycle frame bar to set the attitude of the seat and to stabilize the seat against transverse motion.
