  • Patent number: 5564598
Abstract: A dispenser includes a first container (12) for containing a component C and a cavity (30) for receiving a separate cartridge (60). A first piston (34) is received in the container (12) and a second piston (78) is received in the cartridge (60). A blade (48) extends between the piston (34) and piston (78) for slicing the separate cartridge (60) as the pistons move so that the component C and a second component C1 in the separate cartridge (60) are expelled from the dispenser. A valve arrangement (100) can be coupled to an outlet (18) for the dispenser in order to dispense the components C and C1 and a flexible sleeve (50) may be arranged in the container (12) between a sidewall of the container (12) and the piston (34) for sealing any space between the piston (34) and the sidewall of the container (12).

  • Patent number: 5551601
Abstract: A dispenser is disclosed which includes a container having a base, a cylindrical side wall and a lid. A piston is arranged within the container between component and an air space between the piton and lid. A diaphragm is arranged within the air space and is sealed to the container between a rim of the container and a rim of the lid so that an enclosed volume is defined between the diaphragm and the lid. A rod extending between the base and lid and passing through the piston and diaphragm is provided to reinforce the container. The lid includes an air inlet for allowing compressed air to enter the enclosed volume to expand the diaphragm to thereby move the piston to dispense the component from the dispenser. In a further embodiment the diaphragm is replaced by an air bag located within the air space and bearing against the piston and lid.

  • Patent number: 5409140
Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing two components is disclosed which comprises a drum 10 in which a tube 20 is supported. A first piston 12 is arranged within the drum 10 and has an opening 22 through which the tube 20 extends. The opening is provided with a plug 80 which has an aperture also through which the tube 20 extends. The plug supports a blade 32 which bears on a second piston 40 arranged within the tube 22. The plug 80 is fixed relative to the piston 12 so that it and the blade 32 move with the piston 12. During movement of the piston 12 the blade 32 slices the tube 20 and bears against the second piston 40 so that the first piston 12 and the second piston 40 move in a fixed manner as a single unit. During movement of the pistons 12 and 40 the two components are dispensed from the drum 10 and the tube 22 in a particular ratio depended upon the volume displaced by movement of the pistons 12 and 40. The dispensed components can therefore be mixed together in the predetermined ratios.
