    Abstract: This invention is a method of using sulfite salts to remove dispersed sulfur from fluids encountered in oil and gas production, transport and refining in which sulfite salts are used to convert the dispersed sulfur into benign, water-soluble sulfur species which remain in aqueous solution. Sulfur precipitation and deposition in conduits and processing equipment is thereby prevented.
