  • Patent number: 4638804
Abstract: Hemostatic clips of absorbable or nonabsorbable polymeric materials are formed by two hinged leg members which interlock at both ends when the clip is closed. The clip is applied to blood vessels or the like with a conventional, forceps-type instrument.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 14, 1985
Date of Patent: January 27, 1987
    Assignee: Ethicon, Inc.
    Inventor: Stephen J. Jewusiak
  • Patent number: 4476865
Abstract: A hemostatic clip fabricated from absorbable or non-absorbable bio-compatible polymeric materials. The clips have a pair of leg members joined by a hinge at their proximal ends and terminating at their distal ends in latch means. The leg members have complementary configurations which urge the hook member towards the hinge means when the clip is in the closed position.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 12, 1982
Date of Patent: October 16, 1984
    Assignee: Ethicon, Inc.

  • Patent number: 4446865
Abstract: Plastic ligating clips of absorbable or nonabsorbable materials are formed by two legs joined with a resilient hinge. One leg terminates in a hook member which secures the other leg when the clip is closed. Each leg of the clip is provided with an indentation extending across its width near the distal end which secures the clip in the applier and allows the clip to rotate about its hinge during closure. The clip applier is a forceps-type instrument having channeled jaws especially adapted to receive and close the plastic clip.

  • Patent number: 4294355
Abstract: A cartridge for holding a plurality of plastic, snap-closure hemostatic clips in a manner which allows each clip to be individually loaded into a forceps-type clip applier. The cartridge consists of an elongated body having a stepped central rail on which open clips are positioned with the head of the clip resting on the step on one side of the rail, and the tail of the clip projecting into a space on the opposite side of the rail. Means are provided for retaining the clips in position on the rail until loaded into the clip applier.
